Problems to see the blog’s pages

  • Unknown's avatar

A lot of times many people and I can’t see the blog pages. The blog just doesn’t show up. I see a blank page or a page with the picture but without the blog’s texts. Is this a general wordpress problem, or some problem with my blog? May be I have too much contents on it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In general I’ve been having trouble seeing WordPress.com today (pages don’t fully load especially) and I’m in the same area as you.

But it also seems you’ve set a static Page as the front of your site. I couldn’t find the בלוג blog among the various Pages

I have 5 constant pages which are closed for comments (on the top of the home page). On the left side there are a lot of categories with my posts, but today I can’t see them. I’m not sure I understand your answer. Can you, please, specify about the static Page?

Static Page: Looking at the top tabs on your site, you’ll see you have HomePage (עמוד הבית) and Main (ראשי) but they both show the same content and both are “highlighted” when on one or the other.

This is because you set up your site so that people see something other than the blog when they come to your site. That means you’ve set a “static page” as the first page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ In some themes, this can cause you to have two main pages (which you do) and can be corrected by following the instructions in the link noted under Note in that support doc.

Sidebar:As far as categories, I see your sidebar on the right side of your site, but it keeps disappearing. At first I thought this was a function of the theme, as some themes do not display the sidebar on individual posts or pages. After looking at some other Hebrew blogs on WordPress.com using MistyLook, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Then I looked at your page’s underlying code. Is there any chance you’ve used MSWord to create your pages and then copied and pasted into the WP Editor? http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/

You’re using the Categories widget but not the Recent Posts or Archive widgets? Then people are going to have enormous, never-ending problems navigating around your blog. I suggest you add those widgets.

OK-whatever powers that be have allowed me to see your site today and the side bar is present on all pages.

Thank you very much for all your answers. The problem is that the blog is just fine one day, but suddenly disfunctions on other days. Usually I can see the static pages and also the right side bar. But there are some strange days that it is impossible to see the whole site or just the side bar. But it happens only sometimes. Is THIS a general WordPress’s problem?

It’s hard for me to say, because I’m in the same area as you. I already contacted Support two days ago about accessibility problems for me on WordPress.com.

But regardless, have you used MSWord to write your content and then copied and pasted it directly into the WP Editor? This by itself will cause multiple problems in page display because Word adds junk code.

I guess I have one or two “wrong” word posts. Others were copied as it was described on the link you gave me (http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/). As I understand you had also the same problems to see your blog these days?

WordPress.com is behaving very badly for me right now overall. As I said I have a support request in and am hoping someone can help figure this out.

BUT none of my current problem has to do with MS Word, since I don’t use it for blogging. First thing you should do is get rid of the bad code inserted by Word because that WILL cause your site to behave peculiarly later if not now. Once you clean up the code, if you and your students/clients are still having problems viewing your site, you should contact Support. לילה טוב

How can I figure out which pages have this “bad” code?
