Problems trying to export site as XML file

    I am trying to transfer my blog from wordpress.com over to my new hosted site at wordpress.org, however when i click ‘Download Export’ to export my xml file, it either comes up with a message, ‘Gosh darnit something went wrong, it’s probably Matts fault’ or the page just goes blank and nothing happens.
    I’m trying to avoid the guided transfer, but this is getting me no where, any help would be appreciated!
