Problems uploading files
-
I’ve been having problems uploading .doc and .pdf files. As usual it appears “crunching”, it gives me options for name and description and let me insert them in to the post. However, when I return to my post it recognizes them as texts instead of as files.
Does anybody knows what is happening?
Thanks,

when a message is a button to add a picture, add video, audio, Podcast
but he did not understand a joke as there are all load and what format it supports because when you press any of these buttons to shoot out the window where you can download only select files formats, jpg, jpeg, png, gif, pdf, doc, ppt, odt
???And when you have the capability to download files SWF

@microscop: Your remark is irrelevant to the OP’s question. And there’s no joke:
– You can UPload only selected file types (in your blog library) IF YOU DON’T HAVE the space upgrade; some have it.
– The buttons aren’t for uploading only: except the “From Computer” option, you also have the “From URL” option, in which you can paste the URL of a file hosted outside your blog.

Hi,
I’m having a problem uploading a mp3 file. I have used the browser and flash to upload the file but get the same error message “File type does not meet the security guidelines.”Any ideas, this has only happened since the upgrade to the latest wordpress.

Please make sure you include the URL of your wp.COM blog when you post a question, or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky “8 Things to Know”.
What’s the name of the file?

Thank you panaghiotisadam,
sorry for not following the etiquette, quite new at this. My URL is becdoncaster.wordpress.com .
The file cannot be uploaded, “filename”.mp3 as when I upload the file it goes through the motion of uploading and when it gets to the end it gives me the “file type does not meet the security guidelines”.Grant

– It’s not a matter of (hollow) etiquette: we always need the blog link, first because we get an awful lot of wrong visits from non wp.COM bloggers, second because often we have to check things in the blog itself to pinpoint a problem or suggest a suitable solution.
– I didn’t ask for the file url (I understand there’s no url yet!), I asked for the file NAME, because maybe it includes unacceptable characters or punctuation (that’s just a guess, to narrow down possibilities).

Thanks for making it clearer, the file name is 14 Dec 08 AM.mp3 . This file name structure is what i have used many of times in the past with no problems.

The option is just allowing to upload these files for audio,
“Allowed file types: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, pdf, doc, ppt, odt”

@grantroets: First, try no spaces in the name. Second, if these are the files it allows you to upload, then you don’t have the space upgrade (if you did, maybe it expired now?). You can upload the mp3 in an external host that provides direct URLs (such as Fileden or Getdropbox).

I have been unable to upload video files. I purchased the space upgrade. I have the files saved on my computer (from a flip video camera). I have tried various times of day, as the support advice suggests. It never seems that anything is happening. I do not the the crunching message. The upload window just sits there and a small error message (the yellow triangle with the exclamation point) appears on the bottom of the main window for the post or page to which I am trying to add video.

We need a link to your blog, and also we need to know the format and size of the files you’re uploading. Also, filenames sometimes matter, so if you could paste one here which has failed we can look at it.
