Problems using the ‘Insert More tag’

    Hi there,

    I’m finding that the ‘Insert More’ tag just won’t work on my wordpress.com blog (http://poptribe.wordpress.com).

    I’ve followed the step-by-step instructions for this on the support page (http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/), watched the instructional video numerous times, and read the relevant threads in this forum, but all to no avail. Or perhaps I’m just computer-incompetent.

    This is what happens:
    I go type a new post, and click on the ‘Insert More’ icon, which immediately appears where i want it to in my post.

    Though, when I then go to preview or publish the post, the ‘keep reading’ link never actually appears in the post. All i see is the entire text posted together.

    This also happens when I copy the ‘intro’ text section (i.e. the text before the insert more tag) into the ‘Excerpt’ box (which is how it seems to be done in the instructional video, though I’m not entirely clear on it’s purpose).

    If you visit my blog, you’ll see what i mean. In the post titled ‘Performance’ (Jul 31, 2010), I’ve placed the ‘Insert More’ tag directly following “…is both exotic and explosive.” But nothing appears there in the published post.

    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I’m also hoping that this function can be used when posting images, as I would mostly be intending to use it for this purpose.

    Ok…this is confusing me now:

    When I preview the post, the ‘keep reading’/Insert more break doesn’t appear. Though when I visit the blog and view the published post, it seems to be there.

    Does this sound correct?

    Hey There!

    The “read more” link only shows on the home page… The “more tag” is not meant to show up on the actual post permalink… when you visit this link → http://poptribe.wordpress.com/ you will notice the “read more” link is there within your posts…
