Problems with a number of issues
-
Ah, I also went ahead and did some testing on my side; I’ve found I run into the issue no matter what URL is used. It looks like someone else ran into this too and filed a bug report. We’ll update you here as soon as that’s fixed!

No the bug is still not fixed on my computer.
I can’t load any jpeg image.
For example:

I’m trying to add photos to my webpage via URL, but I keep getting an error message. It shows that I’ve only used 3% of my 3GB storage space, so I’m unsure what the error could be. As of now, I have to save every photo to my desktop and then upload this way. It works when I upload this way, so I know I have the available space. Please help! Thanks!

@thesavvykitchenista
Please provide this specific info:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/ -
-
My understanding is that anyone who is using Mac OS or IOS with an Apple phone or computer is having a problem. This issue for me was with using the latest edition of Safari
-
(a) I’m using my MacBook Air to connect to the internet and WP.com
(b) I’m browsing using Safari and OS X 10.10.5
Please advise what I should do. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

As it is a long weekend in North America you will all have to be patient while waiting for Staff to test ie. replicate the issue by using your operating systems and browser versions, in order to determine what’s causing this bug and to fix it.
-
Hi folks, to clarify, it is not fixed yet. We will update you here when it is.
In the meantime, you can download the image and upload it from your computer rather than using the URL option, if you’d like.

Hi –
I’m having this issue as well. Here’s what I posted on a different board:
In the last few days, when I’ve tried to upload an image (.jpg) from the web, I get an error message: ‘1 file could not be uploaded because an error occurred while uploading.’ The files are perfectly fine, and I’ve used just 1.8% of my free plan, so I should have plenty of space. Any idea what’s causing this? It seemed to happen suddenly — one day things were fine, the next I get error messages. (I’m OK if I save the image to my hard drive and THEN upload.)The blog I need help with is toddleopold.wordpress.com.
I’m using a PC with Win10 and accessing WordPress via Chrome Version 54.0.2840.99 m.
The images are from all over the place, frankly — but I’ve had the same issue whether it’s from CNN.com or someone’s Flickr page.

Hi everyone. The Add via URL feature in the new editor should be working again. Please let me know if any of you are still experiencing problems, and also please include the link to the image that you’re trying to add.

Hi! I’ve tried to upload and no luck. Actually, not even saving in the hard disk. Via the upload.php it worked. I’m using Google Chrome 54.0.2840.99 (Build oficial) m (32 bits) Windows 10.

leahnoel.wordpress.com — it’s a private site. But last time I tried, I couldn’t add via URL for leahsims.com either, and I have not used up all my free storage there.
-
On leahnoel.wordpress.com you are out of storage space, so that would be the reason on that site.
On leahsims.com you should be able to add images via URL as you have plenty of storage space left there. Can you please give me a couple of links to images that you’re trying to add via URL?

I am still unable to upload images from my hard drive: getting the same error message shown in the first post in this thread. My site is DNAsleuth.wordpress.com; I’m not using any plug-ins, I’ve used less than 1% of my limit, and I’m attempting this from a laptop, using Google Chrome. ~ Ann
