Problems with Andreas09 widgets
-
Hello,
I have recently switched my blog over the Andreas09 theme. In looking at the sidebars, I noticed that some of the widgets that I had set up in my previous theme were missing.
When I went to the dashboard to edit the widgets, it indicated that there were no widgets in either the main or right columns (despite the fact that there is text indicating otherwise when you look at the blog). If I add widgets to either column, it seems to “overwrite” whatever was there — info from the widgets I put there is in place but not the info that was there originally . But, when I take away the widgets I had placed in there, the original text returns.
Does anyone know if there is an easier fix than having to start from scratch with the widgets?
The blog is http://rodneysjobquest.wordpress.com
Thank for your help,
Melissa

If no widgets are showing in the sidebar modules at appearance > widgets then what you are seeing is the default display set generated by the theme itself. If you add a widget, the display set will go away. Just add in the widget that you want in each of the sidebars.
Any text widgets or widgets with custom settings should be in the “inactive widget” area at the bottom of appearance > widgets.

Thanks for the info.
That’s a bummer that the default display goes away when I put widgets in because I liked some of the items that are there. It just needed to be tweaked a little.

Bummer? What bummer? The default sidebar items of Andreas09 are Categories, Archives, Search, Links and Meta: all available under Appearance>Widgets.

/nod to Panos yes mmcool1 just add those same widgets into the sidebar and then add any additional widgets you also want. Anything shown in the default display set is available at appearance > widgets. They are all there – and more – and it is a simple drag and drop process.
