Problems With Blog Post Display (Despite Correct Settings)
-
Thanks to all who take the time to read and help in advance.
Just adapted my old wordpress blog into a landing page for my DJ content. As I have yet to upload blogs dedicated to my DJing, I would like to display one post from the previous blog so that the page doesn’t sit empty.
However, even though I have gone to WP Admin > Settings > Reading and changed the ‘Blog Pages Show at Most’ to 1 and ‘For each article in a feed, show’ to ‘summary’, the ‘Blog’ page that I have indicated still shows at least four entries and some of them at full length.
If you go to my blog and click on the ‘blog’ screen, you will be able to see what I mean. If a screenshot is necessary to access the problem, just let me know and I would be happy to attach one. Also, the ‘blog’ tab is the only place that is set as a post instead of a regular page.
Thanks again and Happy New Year.

Your blog page, https://snowfieldrhapsody.wordpress.com/blog/, displays two posts. The reason it doesn’t display one post as you’ve set it to is probably due to the first one being sticky.
The “For each article in a feed, show…” options at Reading Settings apply to RSS feeds, and do not affect the display of posts the blog page.

I should have said that some themes display excerpt of posts automatically on the blog page. On themes such as Goran where the full content of a post displays by default, the way to abbreviate the displayed content on the blog page is with More tags.
-
Beautiful – that solves that. And now I have become even more knowledgeable about wordpress.
Thanks so much for the help and speedy response.

Although…the more tags doesn’t seem to be working no matter how much I add it to the post…
Hmm….is that theme related or am I just doing it wrong? lol
-
It should work on any WordPress.com post. How are you inserting the More tag? It took me a long while to realize that there’s an “Insert Read More tag” button in the post editor toolbar.

It should work on any WordPress.com post.
I meant to say that it should work on the posts of any WordPress.com theme .

I went to the specific post and clicked on the ‘more tag’ at the point where I wanted it to be cut and the transparent —–more—- part appeared in the post.
I saved the changes and went to check the page and it did not break where I indicated. I have since changed the offending post, but I will now add a more tag break into the post I just posted to see if it works or not.

Okay, just tried it and it seems to be working now:

Dunno why it works for this one and not the other one (maybe slow updating), but everything is in working order now.
Thanks a bunch musicdoc1!
