Problems with bold and justifying text
-
Two problems here. One is that when I use bold in a post and then want to return to regular text, the new text keeps on reverting to bold and it’s driving me dotty. I’m frequently editing my posts, so this keeps on coming up.
The other problem is that I’d prefer to have all my posts justified. Is there any way to set this up so that it’s automatic, rather than having to remember to add it every time I create a post? And why does the cursor appear one character out when I’m working with justified text? If I so much as want to fix a typo, it takes quite a while to delete the right letter because the cursor is appearing one character to the side of it. I’m getting tempted to give up, go back and edit all the posts I’ve already made, and dump the justified text, but it really does look better and I’m keen to keep it if I can.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I still don’t know how to fix it, but I’ve just realised why the cursor keeps showing up in the wrong place when justified text is on. The text is displaying as justified, but the cursor is showing up in the places it would be if the text were not justified. No wonder it has been appearing all over the place. It shows up fine if I switch from Visual to HTML view, but I find it much, much easier to work with the Visual view.

Part of the answer is in your second post: in general, in the visual editor you cannot always be sure what exactly you’re selcting or where exactly you’re placing something. For instance, you may think you’re adding something after an image while actually you’re adding it before the end of the image code, thereby messing things up. The html editor is more foolproof.
But in the editor of my blog I’m not getting the particular problems you’re describing. What browser and version are you using? Also, re bold text, are you talking about isolated wordrs or phrases, or about complete paragraphs?

I’m visually impaired and have cognitive problems, and when I look at the HTML version of my posts I actually find them impossible to read. Is there any way of notifying WordPress of this problem with the justified text, and are they likely to fix it if I do?
I’m on the latest version of Firefox. Here’s what will happen with bolding. I’ll write a paragraph in regular text, then hit Enter and Ctrl+B to put a couple of words in as a header, then hit Ctrl+B again to take the bold off and Enter so that I can begin my next paragraph of text. Only the next paragraph will keep trying to be in bold, even though I keep taking the bold off again. Does that make sense now?

I can’t reproduce the problems in my blogs either.
Justified, not justified, one theme or another, zoomed in or not… Firefox, Safari.I did get the cmd+b not turning off a few times when I was typing fast. That was probably because I wasn’t firm enough with the Command key.
Not to overlook the obvious, but is your keyboard in good working order?
I spilled coffee on my keyboard once, and even after cleaning, it some of the keys were not up to standard. -
“Does that make sense now?” Yes – that’s why I asked if you’re talking about separate paragraphs. When you hit Enter in the visual editor, the new paragraph will adopt the style of the previous one unless you change the style of this new paragraph; so when you finish the heading in bold, hit Enter first then Ctrl+B. Or write everything as regular text, then select each heading to turn it into bold.

I thought that’s what OP said? (I think I wasn’t clear.)
¶ in regular face
enter
Ctrl+B type heading in bold Ctrl+B
enter
¶ back to regular(definitely easier to type, highlight, set bold: my fingers seem to land on wrong keys)

OP said hit Ctrl+B to take bold off, then Enter to start new paragraph. Must be the other way round.
