Problems with confirmation email

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I never received any initial confirmation email for my site that I just started, even when I have clicked “resend confirmation email”, multiple times.

When I then go to change my email address, and I click on the link within the email to verify the address change, it just takes me to the page for another wordpress account that I have.

So the system is not letting me change my email address and I can’t get a confirmation email!

    What do I do?

    How can this be resolved?

Check in your email spam filter and under your “social” tab in your gmail account please, if you use it. https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/gmail-issues/

If you do not find it then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. Thanks timethief. It’s not in the spam folder and I don’t use the social tab.

I didn’t even get any notification that you had replied to my post at all, I just had to refresh the page, otherwise I’d never have even known at all.

Could it have something to do with the fact that I have two different browsers open at the same time, or is it some other problem?

I read in the support article about problems with adding dots in your email address, however when I reentered my email address without any dots at all, it gave me an error message and wouldn’t let me change my email address at all either.

Thanks for being patient while waiting for Staff to assist you. :)

    Hi there,

If your email address has too many dots in it, it may get caught up in our automated anti-spam system so you won’t get the confirmation email. However, if the version of your email address without any dots is already linked to another WordPress.com account, you won’t be able to use it with this account/username.

Do you have another email address you can use with this account instead?

I was able to change my email address myself. What happened was I had two browsers open at the same time. I had suspected that was the problem all along, I’d always suspected the two-browser issue had something to do with it.

The problem was not with the dots at all, the dots in the email were not what was causing the problem. When I clicked to change my email, the confirmation for the change would go to my gmail account, which was open in the google chrome browser. Thus because of being open in chrome, when I clicked to verify the email change, the link would just go to my other wp account which I have open in chrome. By copying the link and then pasting it into the firefox browser where I have this account open, it was able to confirm the email change.

However, having taken the time and energy to say all that, I still don’t have any original initial confirmation email for my wp site itself. How can I get an initial confirmation email for this new site (tinyfictions)? It’s important to have one to confirm that I’m the site owner in case I lose access to the account or in case that’s ever needed for some other reason.

    Hi there,

I just sent you an email so we can discuss the private details about that confirmation email. Please let me know if you don’t get that email from me. :)
