problems with domain mapping
-
HI, I bought a domain from wordpress http://www.paket-paket.com and mapped it to my blog http://www.paketpaket.wordpress.com. I then didn’t think I could create a slideshow w wordpress so started another blog on weebly, I then redirected the domain to the weebly site but has realised that doesn’t work as they don’t map w nameservers only a records.
I have now worked out how to do slideshows and want to host my domain & blog on wordpress.com. so I want everything set back to how it was originally. With http://www.paket-paket.com as the URL for my wordpress hosted blog.
I have cancelled the domain redirect and tried to update the nameservers but it is saying domain not found when I try to access http://www.paket-paket.com
Please can you help I am completely confused!
Cecilia

Hi there, I see from your transaction history that you purchased the domain mapping and registration, then cancelled your domain, then re-purchased the domain mapping. Once your domain has been canceled, there is no guarantee that it will be released and available for registration again.
I am checking with the registrar to see if there is a chance to have the domain name paket-paket.com restored back to your account.

Thanks for looking into this, yes I have really complicated this one. I may also have bought paket-paket.com via Google in a panic to get it back – to complicate things further. (is there a difference btw http://www.paket-paket.com and paket-paket.com or is that the same thing) Please let me know what you find out! I am desperate to get the domain back.
Now that I worked out how to manage the WordPress site, and specifically slideshows, I would be very happy to keep my site here.

We’ve heard back and the domain has already been registered by someone else.

You can see the domain whois information here:
http://who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?domain=paket-paket.com
If you were the one who purchased it from GoDaddy, you can map an existing domain with the instructions on this support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

We don’t support mapping the “www” subdomain, and WordPress.com automatically removes the “www” from all URLs and will redirect your visitors from http://www.example.com to example.com.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for quick response! Thankfully it turns out it was me who bought in on go daddy via google. It have just updated the nameservers to the wordpress ones.
It says that ones it has taken effect I should update the primary domain on wordpress – two questions:
How will I know when it has taken effect?
And given that the primary domain on wordpress is already set to paket-paket.com does that mean It will work automatically or do I need to remove it and add it again? Thanks again for all your help!

Good news: it’s working right now, and I’m able to see your domain when viewing your blog. :-)
Can you clear your browser cache and flush your DNS cache? You should be able to see it as well.
Let me know how that works for you.
