Problems with editing blogroll

    Hi,

I’ve been trying to add new links to my blogroll in the sidebar and create new categories to put them in.

When I tried to create a new category yesterday, it repeatedly failed to appear despite deleting, re-entering, refreshing, hard refreshing. I added links, deleted them and re-added them. Eventually it worked but not without a lot of messing around.

Today the same thing is happening. I’ve tried to add a new category and tried to add a link to it – they appear on my Blogroll page in Dashboard but refuse to appear on my Blog page even though it is listed as visible.

    Has anyone any suggestions?

It may be that the categories and groups have not been cached in WP servers. I’d suggest you to give it some minutes, check again and, if after some time they still don’t appear, send an email to support at wordpress dot com.

They have to be added into a category that contains at least a single post.

    Thanks for the quick responses.

I’ve just successfully added a new blog link under the category heading Blogroll which already has several links in it.

What I can’t seem to do is add/create a new category heading and put a new link into that one. I thought I just filled in the Title and the link, ticked the category in the list on the right and then clicked Add Link.

I have blog links under the headings Blogroll, Education, OU Students, and photography but I can’t add a new heading ‘Inspirational’ and put a new blog link into it.

    Am I making sense?

Hello AquaMarina. I’m having the same problem. I’m editing the tags on my blogroll — adding new items (new categories) and they are not showing up on my page.

I believe as long as you have Blogroll ticked, the links will show up in the regular blogroll. If you use a different category for them, untick Blogroll as a category. Then they will display in a clump under that category heading (or at least that’s the way it works on my blogs: Freshy theme and Dusk theme).

I believe staff are working on Categories.

I too have been unable to add categories and/or to assign sub-categories.

If I try here -> Manage -> Categories I get this error message. “Something strange happened. Try refreshing the page.”

The same thing happens if I try to add categories to posts on the write post page “on the fly”.

Refreshing the page becomes a never-ending non-productive loop.

Something is definitely going on in the backend.

I’m able to add categories but I’m having the same problem about the links not showing up.
I use the links widget in the sidebar with the ‘Benevolence’ theme. Often I add a link – either to blogroll or under another category – and it just doesn’t appear in the sidebar.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache to get it to show up? Does it show up after 10-15 minutes?

k this is how. Just go to the widgets and get the links widget out. simple. instead of nerdy answers… ugh
