Problems with Email

    Hi there,

I cannot seem to get mail servers and email accounts with fasthost, pointing in the right direction… at the minute I have my DNS records set to “A mailserver 213.171.216.114”

But to be honest, I have no idea how to get this email working, Fasthost people tell me I need to contact WordPress people, so that’s what I’m doing…. Although I don’t quite understand why email accounts are affected by blog accounts…… I don’t know….

    Many thanks,

    Adam Glover

  • Hi there – since your domain marcangelomusic.co.uk is mapped to your WordPress.com site, in order to get email on that domain working, you need to add some DNS records to your settings.

In addition to an A record, which Fasthost has provided and looks to be formatted correctly in your settings, an MX record is also usually needed. According to our documentation for Fasthost, their MX record is usually in the format:

    MX 10 mailserver.[domainname].

…so I’ve gone ahead and added this to your DNS settings:

    MX 10 mailserver.marcangelomusic.co.uk.

DNS records can take anywhere from a few hours to 72 hours to propagate (take effect) throughout the Internet, so if you could please start giving your email a try in a few hours, let’s see if this gets things working for you.
