Problems with expound, SEO

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I have a blog with the theme “expound” – and there are some problems I need to solve:
    1. I have a other domain at strato and I would like to make that domain to my main-domain. The domain at strato is a .de domain – that’s better for my interests than the .com domain that is now the main one. What does it need to change domains from strato to wordpress.com?
    2. I would like to have the “all in one SEO pack” but I don’t know if I can have that plugin?
    3. I understand that you make a back-up for my blog — if something’s happening to my blog – how do I get to the back-up site and how do I get back to my page? Where can I find my back up?
    4. On the start page of my blog: all the headlines of my other “Beiträge” are H1 – Google doesn’t like more than von one H1 headline on a page – how can I work that out: I want the headlines at the start site to be a H2 headline, the header AND the domain name to be a H1 line.
    3. At the “Beitrags”sides: I need the Domainname and the Header to be a H2 or H3 line – But there I need the headlines to be a H1 Headline. ==> How can I solve these problems?
    4. If there is no way of changing the relevance of headlines (H1, H2-problem) and no possibility to have more option with SEO relevant parameters – is there an other theme that is better than Expound? Or do I have change wordpress.com to wordpress.org?
    5. Can I have a rss-Feed of my blog?

    Thanks for your help!

    Please see my answers below:

    1. I have a other domain at strato and I would like to make that domain to my main-domain. The domain at strato is a .de domain – that’s better for my interests than the .com domain that is now the main one. What does it need to change domains from strato to wordpress.com?

If you would like, you can map your .de domain following the instructions here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Currently, it looks like you’ve already set this up judging by your Upgrades page here:

    https://kulturfund.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

For this domain to work correctly, you’ll just need to change the name severs as described in the link above.

    2. I would like to have the “all in one SEO pack” but I don’t know if I can have that plugin?

WordPress.com has a lot of built-in features that were inspired by popular plugins including awesome SEO right out of the box as explained here:

    All About SEO on WordPress.com

It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

If you don’t find what you are looking for, just let me know what you’d like to achieve with a plugin, and I’ll help you find a solution.

    3. I understand that you make a back-up for my blog — if something’s happening to my blog – how do I get to the back-up site and how do I get back to my page? Where can I find my back up?

We store your content on WordPress.com servers so there shouldn’t be a problem where you would need to restore a backup. In general, you can edit nearly every aspect of your site including pages and posts. Additionally, revisions are stored each time you edit a page so you can restore a previous version if necessary as described here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/

However, if you would like, you can periodically export all of your content as described here:

    http://www.en.support.wordpress.com/export

This will save all of your files in a .xml format in case you need to upload them at a later date.

    4. On the start page of my blog: all the headlines of my other “Beiträge” are H1 – Google doesn’t like more than von one H1 headline on a page – how can I work that out: I want the headlines at the start site to be a H2 headline, the header AND the domain name to be a H1 line.

Currently, you cannot adjust the H1 categorization for post titles. So, you cannot change the post titles from H1 to H2. However, if you would like, you can use Custom CSS to change the font size of the post titles to make them smaller. Would that work?

    3. At the “Beitrags”sides: I need the Domainname and the Header to be a H2 or H3 line – But there I need the headlines to be a H1 Headline. ==> How can I solve these problems?

If I understand correctly, you’re looking for the post title to be an H2 or H3 line on your main page, but an H1 on your individual post page. Is that correct? Currently, it isn’t possible to adjust the H1 tag on the home page.

    4. If there is no way of changing the relevance of headlines (H1, H2-problem) and no possibility to have more option with SEO relevant parameters – is there an other theme that is better than Expound? Or do I have change wordpress.com to wordpress.org?

Currently, WordPress.com offers great SEO right out of the box. SEO performance will not differ from theme to theme in that other themes do not offer additional SEO features. This is explained a bit more in the link here:

    All About SEO on WordPress.com

If you’re looking for more advanced SEO features, you may want to consider moving to a self-hosted WordPress.org blog. Self-hosted users do not have any restrictions.

    5. Can I have a rss-Feed of my blog?

Your RSS feed is setup by default here:

    http://kulturfund.com/feed

You can read more about that here:
