Problems with Flickr Photos

    ARGH…..it is INCREDIBLY annoying to me that when I can’t find an answer to a problem I also can’t seem to find a way to contact WordPress directly to ask for help.

    I’ve posted 53 posts and for every one of them have copied and pasted a link from Flickr using the “share” feature on that site. Every photo has worked fine. I have not changed anything about either my photos on Flickr or my settings on my blog but suddenly when I do the same thing I’ve done countless times, it’s not working. When I look in Preview I see the link address, not the photo (and yes, I’ve tried unlinking it which is what I usually do and it doesn’t work).

    1. Why is this happening?
    2. How do I fix it?
    3. Why have I had to spend 2 days on searching for this answer and now still have to put it out to the Community in hopes of someone else having the answer?

    I am beyond annoyed and considering looking at other blog sites to which to move my blog due to this problem and lack of ease in finding a solution. I appreciate any help anyone can offer to solve this. Thank you.

    Hi swollenfeet,

    I just had a whole reply typed out and went back to confirm the result I was getting and I *think* I might have found your problem. Flickr has recently switched to a new format and they are testing it out on people. They asked me if I wanted to opt-in just yesterday. The new format gives you the link to share in a different format.

    Does the share link look like this?

    <img src=”http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7334/11143699754_753fbe6745_c.jpg” width=”600″ height=”800″ alt=”Fort Nisqually”>

    If so then it needs to be in the placed in the ‘Text’ tab of your editor because that is html code.

    If it does not look like that then hopefully we can track down what’s going on.

    For what it’s worth, I was able to get on of your photos to show up with the link from the address bar.

    Trisha – thank you. That in fact did fix it although it doesn’t fix my frustration with the change. I never had to do it this way before, I don’t routinely work in the Text tab, and I didn’t receive any notification of this change. I find this site to be more and more frustrating every day. I really appreciate your help and will finish my post using this new process that you so wonderfully educated me on. :) I appreciate your help!
