problems with followers not getting email
-
I have followers that wordpress has emailed me about saying they will receive an email whenever I blog. So, I am wondering why those people have not received emails? One in particular is my husband, who hasn’t received any emails.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Staff cannot examine what’s going wrong unless or until you provide the relevant email addresses. Please do that here knowing the software will redact ie. HIDE them so only Staff can view them. Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it. -
Okay. This is my first time doing this. I have 10 followers, a few are actually friends. When I look at my stats it says that 4 are email subscribers and the others are wordpress followers. However, when I get notification, I see there is a difference between someone getting an email and not. I am not sure why it would tell me someone is getting an email if they aren’t under email subscribers. Do all followers get emails or only if they ask to receive emails?

Yes. Subscribers control that as well as how often they choose to receive your posts (instantly, daily, weekly, never).
feel a bit nervous about listing people’s emails here….
Provided you post them in their conventional format like myemail@myemailcom the software will redact ie. HIDE them and only staff can see them.

Okay. Thanks. (email visible only to moderators and staff) is one of the emails. I got an email saying he was receiving emails, but he hasn’t and isn’t listed under email subscribers.

Thanks for posting that email address. This thread is tagged for Staff and they have a backlog. What’s required is your patience as Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in chronological order based on datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.
How long it takes to clear the threads and support tickets depends on how many Happiness Engineers are working on them at any given point in time. It also depends on how complex the issues in each thread and ticket are are.
Please don’t bump your thread here by posting into it again because it’s not in your best interest to post to it after it has been tagged for Staff help. Doing that moves the timestamps forward and it takes longer to get a response.

@timethief — can anyone tag a thread for staff assistance?
Also was interesting to hear that you instructed Briana not to bump her thread by posting into it. What would happen if other people post into it (like what I am doing now)? Would that move the timestamps forward and as a result would make it that this thread takes longer to get a response?

Hi briananei,
Users who don’t have WordPress.com accounts–or followers that signup with e-mail addresses not connected to a WordPress.com account, automatically follow your site by e-mail. Those are your “email followers” Their only option is to get posts by e-mail.
Users who follow using addresses connected to WordPress.com accounts, get to decide for themselves how they want to receive notifications. They can choose to get e-mail right away, or get digest e-mails, or just have the new post appear in their reader. Those options are all controlled from this page:
https://wordpress.com/following/edit/
If any of your followers aren’t getting e-mails and want to get e-mails they can change their settings at the link above and they will be all set.
Let me know if you have any questions about that!

It’s a little more complicated than that. We have some measures in place that make it easier for us to get to the oldest Modlooked threads first. That having been said, adding unnecessary posts to threads does cause other problems that can delay responses, so “don’t bump threads” is still great advice.
