Problems with formating

  • Unknown's avatar

    I have a blog on wordpress.com with the following problems

    1. Cannot install most plugins as they seem to be reserved for .org profiles? (Used Firefox but now changed to Chrome to get the version checker plugin)

    2. Cannot put 2 besides each other on my pages without creating a table?

    3. Cannot use css styling as this seem to be reserved for .org profiles?

    4. Cannot change fonts when needed as this requires plugins or css coding?

    5. When I reply to a comment on my blog my reply is all in bold which looks quite silly?

    6. On the front page of Tonal theme I have an inactive widget with no clue as to set or delete?

    Hope any one can tell me how to fix those isues.

    Link to my blog is misterrightdenmark.wordpress.com

    1. This is true. The .com installs have many popular plugins built in but we are not allowed to add new ones.

    2. I’m a little unclear on this question, cannot put two what next to each other without a table?

    3. CSS styling is available with the Custom Design upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

    4. This is also possible with the custom design upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

    5. This may be part of the theme, although I didn’t check. If it is, you can also change this with the custom design upgrade.

    6. If you go to Appearance>widgets on your dashboard you should be able to see all of your widgets to edit or delete them. If you have no widgets, some themes automatically show a starter set, so the way to get rid of them is to add one of your own. Here’s more on how that all works: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/

    From the TOS http://en.wordpress.com/tos/
    Please don’t:
    •Post explicit sexual materials that can be considered pornographic, such as explicit images or video of sexual acts or close-up images of genitalia;
    •Post links or banner ads to adult-oriented affiliate networks, such as pornography site signups;
    •Post links, text, or images promoting or advertising escort services;
    •Post images of extreme violence or gore without associated context or commentary;
    •Post images of child pornography;
    •Post content that promotes pedophilia, such as blogs with galleries of images of children where the images, content surrounding the images, or the intent of the blog is sexually suggestive.

    There is no warning notice page provided here. You crate a static front page and post one of your own making on it.

    Also you can go to the front of your blog and click the “report blog” link in the dropdown to report it to Staff as “mature”. For details re: mature content blogs.
    A blog that is marked as Mature is excluded from public areas of the WordPress.com service. This means:

    It is not eligible to be featured in Freshly Pressed on the front page of WordPress.com
    It will not appear in global tag listings
    It will not appear in Top Blogs listings, recent posts, or related posts listings on other blogs
    The blog’s users cannot use that URL as a link in their WordPress.com Forums profile
    from http://en.support.wordpress.com/mature-content/

    Hi there!

    Thank you for the self-report. Our ToS staff will review it.

    Thank you!

    I did report my blog and have a mail confirming it is marked as adult plus an appreciation for informing administration.

    I did that 5 minutes after publishing, plus I state it on my static front page.

    Re question 6:

    On the Tonal theme all widget are in the menu, I don’t see any where to edit or ad widgets on frontpage.

  • Unknown's avatar

    The widgets are added here > Appearance > Widgets.
    Note that your theme does not display them until a link is clicked.

    Tonal’s widgets and navigation are in hidden panel: click on the menu link in the top right, to expand and view those sections. This keeps the design sleek and helps Tonal adapts to whatever device you are viewing on, creating a clean reading experience for everyone.

    Re front page:

    My current frontpage is already static, and warning not to enter pages if one is offended by Adult material, is that not how it is supposed to be?

    I dont believe my logo picture is adult material but maybe I am mistaken?

    As you have already received confirmation of the adult or “mature” rating on your blog, then there’s nothing more to be said on that issue, as far as I can tell.

    @timechief I don’t believe my front page widgets are listed in the menue, the one I refer to is located on the static part just below the Menu-botton and not part of widgets editable in Appearance, as those are for Sidebar 1-3 which are all displayed in the Menu section of my page

    @timechief as for the adult confirmation thanks for your reply.

    Please don’t call me timechief, okay. It was the username of a nasty b-tch who registered it here and then impersonated me and caused all kinds of havoc until it was sent packing.

    I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up because I do not enter mature content blogs. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    @time…..
    You should consider changing user name under those circumstances :)
