Problems with formatting and linking pages

  • Unknown's avatar

    Two problems:

    1. My ‘home’ page looks fine but when i click on another page, e.g. ‘research’, and then try to go back to the ‘home’ page, I get a ‘oops that page can’t be found’.

    2. When i was setting up the website I recall filling in my name in the ‘Contact’ page details to see if it would work (eg send me a message to test it). It did, but now i can’t get rid of my name and email address from the contact details boxes on the Contact page.

    any assistance?

I have to say i’m not finding the wordpress a very intuitive system. There seems to be about three different ways to navigate to the same page and it’s too confusing.

    regards

    Melissa

1.Looks like your “Home” menu item is pointing to “https://globalroamingweb.wordpress.com/home-2__trashed/”

In your editing pane, click on menus – you get a screen that will allow you to edit your menu items. Each one will have a little pencil icon – click on that beside your Home menu item. That will allow you to edit the link for your home menu. Just delete the /home-2__trashed and save.

    2. The contact form is showing your details because you are a logged in member viewing your site. If you log out of WordPress and view your site you will not see that. No one else will see your data – but any WordPress.com user will see their own information already filled into the form.

i don’t know if you would find it any more intuitive, but you can get the classic dashboard under wp-admin (the last item in your menu) or by just adding /wp-admin at the end of your np site address
