problems with gallery post format

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,
I want to create two gallery posts, and that the gallery will be displayed as a featured image on the homepage. This should be possible in the Baskerville theme. The thing is, it only works in one of them, but not in the other one. On the post itself the galleries look the same. All the settings seem to be the same.
Does anyone have an idea what may be the problem?
I hope the question is clear…
    Thanks

    Hi Lior,

Since your site is Private, only Staff can see it.

From your description, however, I’m guessing that one post is using the Gallery post format and the other one is maybe using the Standard post format. Even though they both contain a Gallery feature, because they are using different post formats they will display differently on your site’s front page.

If that wasn’t it, please either make your site Public so we can see it, or tag this thread for Staff assistance by adding the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section of the forum thread for their attention.

    Hi Jennifer,
Thanks. They are both using the gallery format.
The site is now public. You can see the galleries under the second item in the top bar menu (it’s not in english, sorry). the Mediterranean gallery looks fine and the Desert not.
    Many thanks

    * I changed the category name to “photography” now

    No worries.

I’m going to go ahead and tag this for Staff assistance as I can’t see an obvious reason that your Desert post isn’t displaying correctly on the front page. According to the source code both the Med and the Desert posts are indeed using the gallery post format.

Just one more thing, all I can see in the code for the front page of your site is that there’s a DIV CLASS=”flexslider” which seems to have failed to load for the Desert post, but unfortunately, I’m not sure what is required to fix the problem. So, we wait for Staff.

If you wish to make your site Private again, you can do so. Staff will be able to see your site regardless.

  • Hi @liorve, it looks like there’s a little trouble with the slideshow. We’ll investigate and let you know what we find out.

Just updating – I added even more gallery posts and they are all fine. However if I try to create a new gallery post with any of the photos from the one that didn’t work – there is no slideshow. Even though I renamed them and uploaded them again! It doesn’t make any sense to me…

  • Interesting. Would you mind if we made some private posts to test?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Sure, go ahead. Thanks!

  • Hi @iorve, we may have something.

None of the images in that Desert gallery are attached to that post, and the gallery on the front page may want to use attached images. Would you be able to upload them again from within that post, rather than uploading them separately?

@supernovia- if indeed it proves that images need to be attached to the gallery in a gallery format post in order for the special slideshow to display on the theme’s front page, won’t you please add this info to the Baskerville theme’s showcase page? TIA

  • @justjennifer, if that is indeed the case, we will either fix it or update the documentation. At this point it’s just a hunch.

    Yes, it worked!
    Thank you!!

  • Thank you for confirming, @iorve :)

And @justjennifer, we’ll keep working on this. Cheers, all!
