Problems with header slideshow and CSS
-
Hi,
I have two movie blogs: One English and one French.
http://www.moviemaniaxx.com (ENG)
www. cinemalade.com (FR)
And of course, I’m having problems with the French.
I tried setting up a sliding header just like I did in the English one, but for some reason, it keeps the same image twice on the front page: in the header AND just below it in the mosaic.Also I’ve tried to change the appearance notable by inserting the same code in CSS section but it did not accept the adjustments. The only one it seemed to digest was the width of the post headers which I reformatted to 200 px.
The obvious question: Is it so difficult because of the French?
Thanks in advance,
SteveThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Most likely you forgot one or more of the following steps, from the Pictorico theme support page:
Featured Content
To set up Pictorico‘s post slider:- Navigate to Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.
- Enter the name of a tag.
- Click the blue Save button at the bottom.
- Create a post with a featured image that’s at least 1180px wide.
- Give the post the tag you declared under Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.
Have you both entered the name of a tag chosen as your featured tag at Appearance > Customize > Featured Content, and assign the same tag to each post you wish to display in the featured content post slider?
Also I’ve tried to change the appearance notable by inserting the same code in CSS section but it did not accept the adjustments. The only one it seemed to digest was the width of the post headers which I reformatted to 200 px.
The featured images in the front page grid are indeed displaying much smaller on the French site, allowing twice as many images per row as on the English language site.

I forgot to link to the Pictorico theme support page: https://wordpress.com/themes/pictorico/.

Thanks so much for the quick response but I’m pretty sure I did everything right.
I created a tag called MAIN and identified the featured image with it. Why would it make it appear twice on the front page on the French site and not the English one? I understand they are two separate sites but I think I did the exact same operation for both.
Also, for the CSS code, this seems to work on the English site but as I mentioned, only the 200 px height seems to be activated on the French. Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong?
:
.home .post .entry-meta {
display: none;
}.category .post .entry-meta {
display: none;
}.home .site-content .hentry,
.archive .site-content .hentry,
.search .site-content .hentry {
float: left;
margin: 0;
overflow: hidden;
width: 390px;
height: 390px;
}.single .entry-header {
height: 200px;

Ok, thanks. Neither do I actually, but I got it from other forums. The functions remove the date on posts, make the thumbnails larger and the post headers narrower. They works like a charm on the moviemaniaxx site. What I can’t seem to understand is why nothing works except the post header at 200 px o the French version. Lost in translation?

There is at least one regular volunteer who is excellent with CSS coding who might respond here later tonight (my time is presently 9:15 PM PST). I see you’ve already started a topic in the CSS Customization forum. That’s a good move. I’m also going to tag this thread for Staff attention. You may do the same at the other forum.

@ moviemaniaxx,
I tried setting up a sliding header just like I did in the English one, but for some reason, it keeps the same image twice on the front page: in the header AND just below it in the mosaic.
I suspect it does that when you have only one post with a featured image and a featured content tag.
Here is your archives page of posts with the tag “Front” for MovieManiaxx.com: http://moviemaniaxx.com/tag/front/ (3 posts tagged “Front”).
Here is your archives page of posts with the tag “Front” for cinemalade.com:

Ok, thanks. Just tried tagging another featured image in a post and now I have two duplicates on the front page. This is getting stranger and stranger…

Hi,
Just so you know, got everything fixed on my blog. I had an option clicked in the French version that confined the home page to a “static page” which explained why it would not accept changes. Thanks fo your help. -
