Problems with Hemingway, please help.

    Hello!

I just started my second wordpress blogg using the “Hemingway” theme, and now have a problem.
Hemingway doesen’t use widgets but you can add different functions (blocks) with the “Bottombar”. One of these is the “About Page”. The thing is that I accidentaly removed the “About Page” block and then added it again. And now I can’t either find it on the blogg or find a way to edit it.
Please, anyone, help me with this!

The “about” thing at the bottom is part of the sample set of widgets that will appear in the theme before you add any of your own widgets so that you can see what they will look like. Once you add a widget under appearance > widgets, the sample set will disappear.

The about display there isn’t really a widget so there isn’t anyway to add it back in. What you can do is to create your own using a text widget.

Oops, Hemingway is not widget aware, forget my last stuff.

Hemingway pulls the stuff for the about display at the bottom from the “about” page.

Go to pages > edit and if an about page does not show up there, then just create one and the widget will pick it up. Make sure that the permalink right below the title ends in /about/ or Hemingway will not pick it up. WordPress may try to make it end in /about-2/ so you may have to edit the permalink.

That works! Thank you very much for help!

Just one minor problem. I don’t want the “about” link shown under the pages column. Can I change this? it didn’t show before.

I don’t know that you can. If Hemingway had normal widgets then you could exclude it from the pages widget. You might try making “about” a child of another page, but there is a possibility that it will show up that way (indented below the parent) in the pages display.

Damn, shouldn’t have deleted the “about page” in the first place. Didn’t show before. Thanks anyway.

Go to appearance > hemingway options and you can take the pages section out of the bottom display if you wish. You can also add and remove other stuff as well.

Sorry, I’ve never worked with Hemingway before, but don’t know why I didn’t see that.

Well I did. The problem persists. Now the “about” page only show under the “Pages” column were I don’t want it, and not to the left of the page were I want it..

Heminway is a bizarre theme and it is sort of a “take it as it is or not” thing. There is little that can be done with it.
