Problems with images

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I have 2 problems that happened to me with images.

The first one, sometime ago, was that suddenly 2 or 3 images from one of my posts were simply gone. I didn’t edited the posts. To solve this I had to re-upload the images, but could not use their original names, like if the file is still there.

The 2nd one, which I detected today, is that I have 3 images in a post that suddenly started to appear as if they were very small images resized to be larger, so it’s mainly a bunch of “squares”. These images are big and resized by the “Image edit/insert” properties. If I edit the post, the images are OK.

So it looks like sporadic problems happen with images, which is annoying because they happen and we don’t know that we have problems :(. I just happen to detected them by chance.

Is anyone else having such problems with images?

    Thanks

With “If I edit the post, the images are OK.” I mean that in the edit page the images look normal, but even if I (re)save the post, the images are not OK when viewing the post.

I have the same problem with my images. Some times ago my weblog also showed the resized images in an ugly way. It looks like if they would be very small and than resized and they also show an little amount of kb´s if you want to get some information about them in “properties”. But then this problem faded in a short time. But now it is here again. It does´nt happen to all pictures. Some were okay, some looked ugly, but changed again to normal performance. But in the whole it´s going worse know.

It´s rather annoying for me because I used a lot of work and skills to give my blog an nice form. I posted on my blog for more than one year. Maybe somebody could look after this problem?

When I try to put a photo in my blog (do the “browse” and click on the photo I want to insert in my blog) I DO NOT get an option between “thumbnail” and “large”. Try as I might, I can’t figure out why sometimes I get the two options, but more often I only get the “large” option. If I click on “large” the picture is so big, it fills my page!
    HELP!!!

moongod, you get only the “large” option if you upload images with the longest size being > 2000 px. Resize your pictures before uploading them.

    Where is the thumbnail?

  • Unknown's avatar

To optimize the size of the images in my posts I used the htm-tag to insert the pictures together with other options. I did so because I found in Selfhtml that you can do so (example: align=”left” hspace=”30″ width=”30%”). Of course I needed to write it for every picture extra, but it worked marvellous. But now this option does only show ugly pictures in a way as if they would be very small and shown in a greater size. It´s sad because with these little tricks and a lot of work my blog looked really pretty.

Yes, the problem I have is the one cybermaus describes:

“show ugly pictures in a way as if they would be very small and shown in a greater size”

I just ran over all my posts (not many) and changed the images using the % to an absolute size in pixels, to solve this issue. It’s a pity, because using % is obviously many orders of magnitude more flexible.

    @ Njay

Thank you. But for me the ugly pictures are a big problem. I´ve written 232 posts. If I should change the code for all of them I really start to scream. This option worked for a long time. Why was it stopped? It´s okay for me that it is not possible to use Javascript in WordPress.com because code in this language could do some damage. But the option width=”##%” is really harmless and I can´t see the problem with it.

    HELP!

You can do <img src=”IMAGE UPLOAD URL” width=”WIDTH IN PIXELS” height=”HEIGHT IN PIXELS”></img>

I’m having a different issue. I have uploaded some graphics in png format to use as buttons and have inserted using html no problem, resizing using the height and width options within the img tag. However at the standard zoom on my PC, the graphics appear out of focus or pixelated as if they are small images that have been upsized too much. However if I zoom in or out from the screen at all, then they show up beautifully. Any ideas? It’s at fibroaction.wordpress.com. It’s a charity website that I am trying to do for minimal cost!

    I share your grief cybermaus…

linz, I can’t see any images with problems in your site…. actually I don’t see any images on posts…

I am having the same problem; Today when I checked my blog, I was missing about half of my images. Which totally sucks because I don’t think I’ll be able to find them again. When I click ‘edit blog’ I see a broken image file logo, and then it disappears and is gone and consequently, so is the image.

    What’s the deal!?

    This is a serious bug!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    : )

Probably that’s got something to do with your browser. Try refreshing number of times until the images appear in proper light. I advice you to use Mozilla Firefox. If you are already using it and still have a problem, try posting in images as “thumbnails” rather than “full size” pictures.

Hope that this would be of help.

Those having problems uploading may want to take a peek at this: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/04/08/uploading-and-inserting-image-with-the-new-wordpresscom/

Also, for any out there using Firefox that have the AdBlockPlus addon, try disabling it (tools > addons) and restarting your browser (required for the addon to actually be disabled). The uploader is Shockwave Flash based, and many ads are flash based, and perhaps AdBlockPlus is misidentifying the wordpress uploader as an ad.

I having the same problem as others, my photos are missing from the blog. Not all but some. I tried reloading a couple of them, but they are not staying.

Is this a virus? How do I fix?

    veerubhai- Thanks for the advice.

Can you (or anyone for that matter) see my images? I’m using Internet Explorer at the moment.

In order to ‘thumbnail’ the pictures, I need to reload them don’t I?

    Thanks!

@yourfriendandy: I see them fine on the front page. Using Xp with Firefox 2.0.0.13.

    mikecane- Thanks man!

I appreciate the help. That’s weird how some browsers won’t load the photos. Even weirder, when I hover my cursor over the x’ed out photo box, and image of the photo appears!!

    GAH!!
