problems with 'like' notifications in the blog, not email.
-
I have disabled things. it hasn’t fixed the problem, though I no longer get Samnta. I do run a virus protection which I have always done. I will be reneabling adblock & noscript as it is nterferring with other sites.
I repeat – nothing has changed, nothing had changed. I have changed nothing on my computer. WordPress & associated sotes were always ‘whitelisted’ so they weren’t affected by any of the protection I run. Now – things have changed in other programs, yet I still cann’t ‘like’ others’ posts no read anything from the like or comments indicator on the dashboard.
I am going to have to re=enable my protections as it is interferring with my email.
Do you have any other suggestions? I cannot & will not disable my virus protection, for obvious reasons. -
Hi there, thanks for confirming the steps you’ve tried so far. I know this process can be frustrating, but it helps me reproduce and troubleshoot the problem you’re having if I have as much information as possible about your computer and browser setup (even if none of your settings have changed recently).
To help me with that troubleshooting process, could you please answer these questions for me:
1. Just to confirm, do you have Javascript and Flash enabled in your browser? You can check that here: http://supportdetails.com/
2. Do you have third-party cookies enabled in your browser? You can check that here: Third Party Cookies
3. Can you send me links to 2-3 sites where you tried to Like a post and it didn’t work?
4. Can you make a screenshot of what you see on the screen when you try to use the like/comment notifications dropdown? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy.I can use that information to try to reproduce the problems you’re having, which will help us track down what’s going wrong. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :) Thanks!

Javascript and cookies are enabled when I to allow them.
There is nothing to take a screen shot of when I attempt to like a post. I explained in an earlier reply that all I got was a blank down down screen and sent you the address at the top of the screen.
I have noticed that since diabling some of the adblock and noscript that I seem to have lost things from my blog: tag cloud and zemanta are 2 examples.
I am now very confused…. -
this is the address for the blank drop-down page when I attempt to ‘like’ a post.

Hi there,
I just want to make sure I understand all of the issues you’ve mentioned so far:
The little thing up the top that lets you reply to some comments that don’t appear in the comments column, and also has a star when someone likes your blog – sorry, I don’t know what it’s called – well, it’s not loading.
You mentioned this in your first message. Is this problem separate from the problem where you can’t ‘like’ posts? If so, can you please take a screenshot of what you see on the screen when it won’t load? That will help me understand what you’re seeing so I can troubleshoot that issue.
When I try to ‘like’ a post, another screen pops up that has a wordpress address but remains blank.
When you try to ‘like’ a post, this blank page pops up instead: https://wordpress.com/public.api/connect/?action=verify&service=wordpress
Can you send me links to 2-3 blog posts you tried to like where this happened?
I have noticed that since diabling some of the adblock and noscript that I seem to have lost things from my blog: tag cloud and zemanta are 2 examples.
I see a couple tag clouds in your blog’s sidebar, as in this screenshot: https://cloudup.com/cHoEcR7wPRQ
Are you having trouble seeing those tag clouds, or is the problem somewhere else?
Regarding Zemanta, we removed our Zemanta integration on January 2. You can read more about that and find out alternatives to Zemanta in our forum post here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/removing-zemanta-integration?replies=1
