  If you haven’t yet, you might want to work through the “Learn WordPress” support doc (http://learn.wordpress.com/) and the “Video Quick Start” tutorial (http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/). Those docs cover all the basics on setting up your site and creating posts.
