Problems with loading of images
-
Hi,
I use my blog to publish tutorials. this involves posting several images in one post. With my last post I found that very often not all images are loaded. The images are within my media library. I uploaded them together with the article with Windows Live Writer. Why is the loading of the images so unreliable? Is there a way to improve this?
Greetings
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have no help to offer, but I have experienced the same problem. Usually the first photo will load just fine. I follow exactly the same steps for a second photo and everything seems to be OK, but when I preview the post I see only an empty box with a question mark for the second photo.

@raincoaster: Yes they are optimized. Check yourself: http://paengpaeng.wordpress.com/2009/02/06/control-your-shadows/
This is a huge problem, because I wanna publish tutorials and tips&tricks on my blog. This often involves a sequence of illustrating images.

when I check the images in my media library by clicking “View” they load just fine. Every image has around 15kb. But if i load the article some of the images won’t load.

Well, when I look at the ones that won’t load on the blog I get a 404 error. Like this one:
http://paengpaeng.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/artikel-shadow-exception-031.jpg?w=648&h=200
That’s how it is on your blog. The image that DOES display is formatted somewhat differently:
http://paengpaeng.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/artikel_shadow_exception.jpg?w=648&h=200
I’m wondering: did you name the file with -031? Because if you put a dash in the name that’ll screw WordPress up all the time.
The third one:
http://paengpaeng.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/artikel-shadow-exception-041.jpg?w=414&h=132
Also has a number name. Can you rename the actual files without dashes or spaces and try re-uploading them again?

Hi raincoaster.
the adding of numbers at the end of the filename happens automatically. I am not sure if WordPress or Live Writer does it.
Thats strange. It seems that nearly all of the image links are just plain wrong. I corrected them in the WordPress Editor. Next time I use Live Writer I keep an eye on the links.

Great, glad to hear it. I’ll keep an eye out to see if someone else reports this with Windows Live Writer. WP.com can’t handle more than one image with the same filename, that’s absolutely certain.

@otomo: When you reupload an image with the same name, it gets an extra number to distinguish it (Nicepic.jpg reuploaded will become Nicepic1.jpg, next time it will become Nicepic2.jpg etc. – even if you delete the previous version before reuploading). So if you use similar names that end with a number, you’re guaranteed to mess things up, for instance confuse a real Pic31 with a twin of a previously uploaded Pic3. Better use words instead of numbers, e.g. PicVersionOne, PicVersionTwo etc.

When I upload a picture from my computer it loads on to my image gallery sideways. It does this no matter if the image is horizontal or vertical.
