Problems with my blog: JSON and ‘You have been blocked’.
-
Hi,
I am experiencing 2 different issues and not sure if they are related.1. If I try to access my site https://malteseblogger.com/ through any browser on my PC or mobile, I am getting an error ‘You have been blocked’. I am not sure if it is only me (my IP) or of this happens to everyone who visits my blog.
2. When I try to publish or edit a post/page, I am getting the following:
Publishing failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.I have been using wordpress for 1 year and this is the first time it is happening. I am not sure if the issues are related. I have over 140 posts on my blog.
Please help me.

Hi there,
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We’re only able to help with sites hosted on our servers at WordPress.com.
Please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using:

I am hosted on WordPress and for the last two days I’ve been doing major work on my site. I also keep getting ‘not a valid JSON response’. Then it won’t save and I lose all my work.
I am in Chrome. My internet connection should be fine, and I’ve been using WordPresss for at least 3 years.

Hey @nancydarling314,
Based on what you are describing, and it appears you’re also in the wrong forum. Your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software and you need to seek help at these forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can read this document:
Thanks!

Every single question about this topic gets this response.
I have a business account hosted by wordpress.com. I am using the block editor. Really. I know who is hosting me.
I got to this form by click the question mark on the bottom on my site editor. Hosted by WordPress.

This is the beginning of the url of the page I’m on where the message shows up:
https://wordpress.com/block-editor/page/
Isn’t that a wordpress.com hosted site? I pay WordPress a lot of money every year. I hope they’re hosting me.

Hi there,
Ah yes, you have a Business Plan and are indeed hosted with us on WordPress.com. Usually, Business Plan users do not contact the forums as they have immediate access to live chat and email and these forums are primarily used by our free users. Our live chat team would be more than willing to assist you immediately with this.

Thank you. I thought I was just out of my mind there for a while.
Live support is awesome – they have always been amazing. But I usually like a little background information before I bother them.
Why is it that every one of these inquiries about improper JSON responses is answered saying the OP is on the wrong forum? Is this not an issue the WordPress hosted sites usually have?
Asking for a friend.

I hope Darnell doesn’t mind me giving a quick reply here to prove that WordPress.com support is fast and efficient even for free site users in this forum as well as Business plan users. I’m no expert but I think people with free sites here at WordPress.com are unlikely to ever get that message as this is a shared environment with all sites limited to approved plugins and secured by the happiness engineers. Business plan sites operate more like .org sites as any plugins can be used which on occasion can cause conflicts. Hence the original assumption that your site was hosted elsewhere.

Exactly, @themagicrobot,
Most people that ask your question have sites that are not hosted with us here on WordPress.com. You can only have that problem on WordPress.com if you have a Business Plan. Very few people (relative to the millions of people that use WordPress.com) have that plan, and even fewer reach out to our forums with that plan. However, your situation is exactly why assumptions should not have been made, so definitely my mistake there. :)
I would have caught it if you were the original poster, but since you are posting in someone else’s thread, I didn’t have immediate access to your account.
Let me know if you still questions and I’d be willing to look into this for you.
Thanks,
