problems with new account site

Blessings in Jesus name! Hi, this is a fairly new account (just joined a few days or so ago).

I am trying to build a “static” site to replace the chapter site altogether: ascendhome.org

(* I may upgrade to a paid site IF I can get WP to perfectly match the current chapter site)

Upon switching the theme to “flounder,” all was fine. Until a “HOME” link appeared on it’s own upon adding new post and page content, HOME has no corresponding /home in the URL? But the page post does appear? (should appear as a page only, not a post, per say).

    * The other default page link is ABOUT; whose page and content does come up via: /about

Upon trying to add new pages, no more page links appear? I tried to “reset” the account by permanently deleting all pages and posts. The HOME still appears as before but the ABOUT page link does not? (…/about works when manually typed in the browser address bar).

I’m building a standard non-blog site (objective). Did I inadvertently do something wrong?

    God Bless in Jesus name!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is an international forum where many bloggers from many countries and many religious and philosophical backgrounds the world over pose WordPress.com support questions. You may want to reconsider couching your questions between religious greetings and blessings and simply sticking to articulating exactly what the technical support issues you need help with are.

I am trying to build a “static” site to replace the chapter site altogether: ascendhome.org

http://www.ascendhome2ourlord.org is not a WordPress site. The only way to transfer content from any HTML site is by copying and pasting.

By default the front page of the blog is the Page that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page and have your published posts display on another page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ By default Home is the URL of the blog http://arcbornechapter.wordpress.com/ And, clicking the home link or the site title on any page will return you to http://arcbornechapter.wordpress.com/

This is the detailed theme description link for the Flounder theme
    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/flounder/
This is the live demo site link http://flounderdemo.wordpress.com/

You will not have layout issues unless

    (1) content has been imported into the blog

    (2) you are copying and pasting content from elsewhere, without using either icon 5 in Row 2 of the visual editor http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

    (3) or the blogger has copied and pasted invalid HTML into a text widget or left an HTML tag open

After you go here and enable this > Settings > Writing
    Formatting
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
    “save changes”

See here for sorting this out > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/sidebar-at-the-bottom-and-related-issues/ because whatever you copied and pasted has set the theme askew and must be fixed.

The other default page link is ABOUT; whose page and content does come up via: /about

Here is the About page link. http://arcbornechapter.wordpress.com/about/ Note that the layout there is also skewed and needs to be fixed.

Upon trying to add new pages, no more page links appear? I tried to “reset” the account by permanently deleting all pages and posts. The HOME still appears as before but the ABOUT page link does not? (…/about works when manually typed in the browser address bar).

    Please read: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages

On your custom menu page http://arcbornechapter.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php on the bottom right hand corner you can activate this link:
    Menu Settings

    Auto add pages
__ Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu
    “save menu”

Being a devout orthodox Christian in Jesus Christ, it is by the Authority of the Most High God that I am charged with greeting as such, as God Wills.

Since Christianity is the one true non-denominational religion, please respect that I am Christian, who does exactly what my God Wills me to.

Whatever beliefs are those of the international community, solely. But I appreciate your feedback nonetheless: the greeting is simply a blessing!

The initial post was specifically meant for Wordperss support in case the Flounder theme is faulty? (new account: theme switched from default).

    * And was not meant for the “international forum” community, per say.

Please have only “WordPress support” (forum?) respond, in case their web developers need to look into this matter further at an admin level.

Having said that, I will now respond as if support had done so hereafter.

    Blessings in Jesus name!

To address the reply, of course ‘ascendhome2ourlord’ is not a WordPress site in that, I built it! And that I already know I must copy /paste content to the new site but encountered what may be issues with “Flounder” theme.

Since not only “HOME” (link) suddenly appeared on the web site, it’s page I did not set up also appeared under the Dashboard area along with About?

Upon trying to correct this, it made matters worse? Such that I could not get the site to be as it was before deleting home and about pages /posts.

As for the about page being skewed? I don’t know what you’re referring to, as that is the way it was “set up” by the Dashboard’s page functions.

A lot of data was included in the reply. And though I appreciate it, I will try to go through as much of it as I can; most of which I’m unfamiliar with; in hopes WordPress can be used to build a “standard” web site as per their info page data (unless I have to upgrade via the chapter hosting service).

For now, God Bless in Jesus name! Maranatha: the Lord Cometh soon!!!

Addendum: I am getting “socket errors: already in use” alert pages, upon attempting what was suggested. And still no additional page links appear? Such that not even what was in the demo worked. Please have WordPress support respond and look into this, in case the account needs “resetting.”

Final Addendum: (supersedes previous posts) As I continued to struggle with getting the Dashboard components to work (as posted on the help pages and demo), I finally managed to solve the initial problem!!! I again permanently deleted posts and pages, and started from ‘scratch.’ I then focused on setting up new main pages only and all of a sudden they now started to appear on-site (menu). But I was still getting two home pages? So I named the default HOME that has the default site address to FRONT and permanently deleted it. That caused the second HOME page I set up to take over and now works as it ought to all along! Now I can migrate the old Christian Service Chapter site page scripts and content (I designed) to the new “non-blog” web site in WordPress! Awesome! Why this occurred could have been a glitch in the WordPress Dashboard system, or support read the post and corrected it (not sure?). This incident is solved by user!

God Bless in Jesus name! Maranatha!!! The Lord Cometh any instant now!!!

PS: Thank you user “timethief” for your feedback; …whoever you are.

Blessings to all who use and post on WordPress etc. in Jesus name!

FYI: in case you didn’t read the last post, I “solved” the issue myself. The feedback you gave me; though it did not work (the “dashboard” did not behave as posted on the support pages, and as demoed?), did help me somewhat. I’m already “subscribed” also (via “notify me”). This support ticket can be closed as “solved by user” unless support made a change.

I appreciate it, God Bless in Jesus name! aka Chris
