Problems with new post formatting
-
The problem is when I try to make a new post. First, the toolbar is completely different than it was yesterday. Instead of a spell check button with a checkmark button, I have a “proofread” button. Secondly, before the problem my text spaced differently, at around 1.15 line spacing so there was spacing between paragraphs. Now there is no spacing among paragraphs. What did I do wrong?

WordPress added a new feature – proofreading – that will help with spelling and also help to spot grammatical errors. It would not have changed the main formatting of a post or page though.
Can you give us a link to a post where this has happened so we can take a look?

My “new post” screen is entirely different. It changed on November 4th. Before, in the writing box, if i italicized a word it would appear italicized, now it inserts an tag. And all of the buttons are different. Like I said the proofread button just appeared, before it was a spell check button. They did the same thing.
As far as my posts, they just aren’t spaced like they used to be. It used to insert a much larger space between paragraphs but now it is single spaced.

You are looking at the HTML editor then, not the visual editor. There are two tabs at the top right of the editor area, HTML and Visual. Click on “Visual” and the visual editor with the WYSIWYG display will come back.
-
In the HTML editor, if you hit return, it inserts a standard break (no blank line). When in the HTML editor, you have to hit return twice to get a blank line between paragraphs. When in the visual editor, hitting return once will give you a full paragraph break (blank line between paragraphs).
Once you switch back to the visual editor, everything will return to normal.

I’m sorry, I don’t see that editor anywhere.

OK, go to users > your profile, and DEselect the top radio button where it says, “Disable the visual editor when writing” and then click “update profile.”
Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.
