problems with page visibility
-
Hi everybody,
I’ve got a problem with my pages. I start editing them and my changes don’t appear on the main page in my blog although I save them. Something is going strange.
If I go to the dashbord, in the list of all my things done today this sign appears as if I had created a new page: New nav_menu_item: (Edit) if I edit it this appears: Permanent link: http://is4eso.wordpress.com/2010/09/24/575/ Edit
I think this is the reason but I don’t know how to solve it. Can anyone help please?
Thank you in advance!
Bbc
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That link is actually to a “post” not a page. The link that shows in the dashboard will not be the link that shows on the blog main page. The only post you have dated September 9, that appears on your blog is this one.
Is that the one you edited?
Pages (those that are in your top navigation) will have a different permalink structure since pages do not have dates in the URL’s as in this example.

Have you gone to your blog’s main pages (not the dashboard) and checked the posts you have changed to see if the changes are there?

Thanks! What I mean is that I used to do:
Page
Add
And I could see a new page on the top of the main site, like: Materials and I coulld even create subpages like Catala.
And now I can’t
When I look at the list of pages in my dashboard, I can see the ones I create, but then at the top of the main site I can’t
It is like something wasn’t working all right
Can you give me a hand? I’ve tried everything,I’ve deleted pages, created them again… but I can’t have the subpages any more.
Thanks again! -
Posts cannot have subpages. Did you perhaps go to the Write Post page instead of the Write Page page like you wanted?
-
I went to Page (dashboard, left handside)
Add page
and then in page attributes I put instead of parent, the page I want my subpage to hang from (right handside)
I see it is different to create a new post and a new page, what I find surprising is that it used to work not long ago!
I don’t understand what am I doing wrong! :-(Thanks again!

Did you by chance set up a custom menu (appearance > menu)?
If so, top level pages can be set so that they automatically appear, but subpages do not. You would have to go to appearance > menu and add them manually.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! It worked!!!!
So one last question. What is the difference between a page and a menu?
-
The menu is just, in essence, a system of links to either pages, posts, categories, tags, or external sites. It has a great amount of flexibility and allows you to organize your site navigation as you see fit.
Basically it is just a collection of links to your stuff.

Thanks again! I will probably have more questions in a short future! It’s great to get support and solve problems. I had a quick look at your site and we have common interests, I also think “there is life beyond our minds and thoughts”. I started practicing meditation techniques some months ago.
