Problems with password protection of pages
-
Hi!
I am new on wordpress and need some help. I have searched the support and forums, but have not found what I am looking for. Perhaps you can help me?I decided to password protect a page, but nobody seems to have to type any password to read it. Password protection of posts seems to work fine though. Does anybody understand what the problem is? I have imported the posts and comments from blogger.com., but the password protection should work anyway, right?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What is the page? In most cases of reports like this, what you’re seeing is a result of your computer storing the fact that you input the password.
-
Timethief: Thank you :)
Raincoaster: I thought about that, so I asked different people to test it on different computers. They could all read the entire blog without being asked to enter a password… -
Well, for what it’s worth, I can’t read this: http://familienw.wordpress.com/2011/08/16/1-manad/
-
That is because I have password protected that post to see if that option was working. Good to hear it works, but it would be so much easier for me to protect the entire page…
-
Are you ware that you can simply change the entire blog visibility to “private” and have up to 35 private users free of charge? If you wish to have more than 35 people then you can purchase an unlimited private users upgrade.
-
Yes I am, but if it is possible (and I understand it is meant to be) I want to protect only this page.
-
-
What I wish to do is to password protect this entire page, and not just some of the posts…
-
Now I understand.
That’s not doable: technically speaking, it’s not a Page, it’s your Blog, where all your Posts go. All you really need to know is that no, you cannot in one fell swoop, password-protect your entire blog. You can password-protect each of the posts individually, and you can password-protect individual static pages like About, but you cannot password-protect either the entire website or the entire blog all at once.

My comment is: please don’t post unspecific “please help me with my problems” posts in the forum. If you have a problem, do a forum search to see if the question has already been answered. If it never has, start a thread to ask it.

This was very helpful. Thank you very much! I am sorry if I used the forum wrongly, but I was not able to find an answer to my question in my forum search…
-
Hi – I also have a question here. It says you can have 35 private users, but my account only allows me 16. Please help?
Thanks

@oupsatech: Are you adding them in the box under Settings > Privacy? Or are you adding them as editor, contributor, etc.?
-
Hi – thanks for the quick response!
Im addin them under Settings – Privacy – Blog Visibility. Is that the right way? -
@oupsatech: Yes. I suggest you bring this to staff’s attention directly
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ (to display the form, search for anything in the search engine, then indicate that you haven’t found the answer to your question)And in the future, for the sake of organization and to better assist you, may I suggest you don’t post on a topic marked “resolved” and create a new one instead? :-)
