problems with scheduled posts
-
Hi – with my scheduled posts, it is a bit hit and miss whether they publish to my facebook and twitter accounts. Sometimes, it seems that if i update a scheduled post, it unchecks the publicise box, but also, even when they are ticked to publicise, the post is not getting shared on facebook.
The last scheduled post this happened to was the cover reveal for Tectonic – the blog is A British Bookworm’s Blog. I use Chrome as my browser. Can you help please?
Many thanks

Hi there,
I just took a look in our system and I’m not seeing anything wrong with your Publicize settings. You mentioned that sometimes when you update your post it doesn’t show as still being set to publicize; is it possible that this post did not get publicize re-set before being updated?
In any case, should you continue to have problems, the best bet is generally to fully disconnect your publicize from the various social media connections and then reconnect them, just to ensure that a solid connection is being made. There are a couple of steps, but we walk you through them right here:

I hope this helps!

sadly, it hasnt fixed it. I just saved a draft of a post (review of Dark Child) and when I changed it to publish, there was no push out to Facebook. I double checked and the publicize was checked before I hit update to publish. It seems that I am only getting the push out if I publish straight away, and not if i save a draft or schedule a post….

OK, could you please try going through the process described in the help article I sent you last time? Here it is again just in case you need it:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-services
You’ll need to fully disconnect publicize in order for it to do any good before you disconnect it, but hopefully it will make a difference. If it doesn’t, let me know and we’ll go from there.
Thanks very much!

Oh, another question for you. When you write and schedule your posts, do you use our editor which is available through your Dashboard >> Posts >> Add new, or do you use the one which you get to by going to WordPress.com and then click the Pencil in the upper right hand corner?
Also, has this ever worked properly for you, or is this a recent change?
-
well, i have only recently started scheduling my posts as a way to try and get organised. I tend to use the New Post button from the landing page for the blog rather than the dashboard, though the layout for the two is slightly different in my browser – does that make a difference?
-
It might. The two different compose windows use a different set of code.
Just for clarification, when you say you use the “new post button,” could you send me the URL that is in your browser’s location bar when you compose your post that way? Just so I’m sure we’re talking about the same thing.
Also, would you mind doing a test for me and seeing if the other composer sets the scheduling correctly for you? I’d like to see if we can narrow it down to exactly what is going wrong. If it’s something in the entire system, that’s one thing. If it’s something going awry in just one composer, that’s something else entirely!
Thanks so much!

Hiya… when I did a scheduled post last night from the new post in the dashboard acre en, it worked fine this morning when it was scheduled. Maybe I just need to do it that way instead…
-
Well, in the mean time that’s a good work-around, but it at least let’s me know where the problem might be coming from.
Thank you for letting me know! I’m going to do some testing of my own and will get some developers involved. As soon as I have any additional information I will let you know!

Hi there,
I’m so sorry for the delay, but our developers recently implemented a patch which was designed to fix some of the issues which you wrote in about. Would you mind giving it another try by going to:
And seeing if when you schedule a post and try using Publicize it works OK? If not, could you let me know what aspects do and do not work?
Thank you in advance!
