  • Hi there,

I have a site named “Avitalforart.wordpress.com”. When I search it in a search engine , I can’t seem to find it anymore… I can only find my previous blog…avitalsart.blogspot.com.

There are a couple of reasons for this. The first (and primary) reason is that your blogspot site still exists and is not redirected to your new site here. Because of this, all the old links to content on your old site still exist, so search engines have no reason to update their listings.

If Blogger gives you the option to redirect traffic to a new URL, you will want to set it up to redirect here, otherwise your old site will continue to show up in search results.

The second reason has a lot to do with how new your site is here. Even though you are able to move your content to a new platform, you are not able to bring your old blogspot address with you unfortunately. It takes 4-6 weeks for search engines to “catch up” with the fact that you have a site on WordPress now, so I would keep posting as you are.

You can learn more about WordPress and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) here:

Also, you may want to consider getting a custom domain for your site. That way you will finally “own your own name” and can take it with you should your blog ever move again.

See this article to learn more about getting a custom domain for your WordPress site: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/register-domain/

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
