Problems with slider in Forever Theme

I’m using the Forever theme and can’t get sliders to appear. I am following the instructions of ensuring the featured image is 888px wide, and that it is set to sticky, however the story still does not go into the slider – instead it stays in the content list below. I managed to get one story to go into the slider, but it took a day or two for it to process and find its way up there – not good enough! Unfortunately the site is private at the moment (still in development) so you won’t be able to see it, but if anyone can shed some light on why this is happening despite me following all the instructions then I would be grateful! Have tried clearing my cache too…

The A Dramatic Personalized Home Page slider cannot display until there are actually published sticky posts with featured images to be featured in it. Here’s the link to theme description page http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/forever/ scroll down to ” A Dramatic Personalized Home Page“. The slider will display featured image posts. You will be marking selected posts as stickies and set a featured image of the required dimensions in each one.

We Volunteers cannot view private blogs so we don’t know which theme you are using, and cannot examine what you have done and assist you. Only Staff can view private blogs so I tagged this thread for their attention.

Hi TimeThief. I *have* published sticky posts with featured images – that’s exactly the problem, they are not displaying despite being both live and having a featured image set at the required size! Thank you for tagging this post, hopefully someone on Staff can assist.

Hi steffielou – did you get this figured out? I see two sticky posts in your dashboard, and I see them both working in your slider as well. Let me know if you’re all set.

Hi Kathryn – ah, yes me too now. The first one (Monica) definitely wasn’t showing last night, even though I’d set it as sticky earlier in the day. I’ve experienced a lengthy delay between setting something as sticky and seeing it in the slider previously too – is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks in advance!

I recently saw a similar problem with the Oxygen theme: the slider wasn’t updating when new sticky posts were added. It seemed like the page was being cached.
I was able to work around this by “unsticking” (and updating) all of my sticky posts, refreshing the browser, and then “re-sticking” all of the posts that I wanted in the featured slider.
Without testing, I don’t know if this is issue is related, but it may be worth a try.

I’ve never seen this particular issue before, but unsticky-ing and re-stickying as Brian suggest is definitely worth a shot if it happens again. Let me know if it does!

Hi Kathryn – I’m experiencing problems again. I just published a new post and marked it as sticky, but it’s by-passed the slider on the homepage and gone into the stories underneath. I then un-checked another as sticky – at first it didn’t move from the slider, so I removed the featured image and now NO slider stories are showing! help?

I just checked your site and I see two sticky posts, both appearing in the slider. Did you get this sorted out?
It’s possible that right after you make the change you’re not seeing that change in your browser. It can sometimes help to clear your browser’s cache after a change like that, to make sure you’re seeing the most recent changes when you view your site.
