PROBLEMS WITH SLUGS

  Hi, everyone

  I´ve been struggling with the theme I´ve chose (Revelar) for weeks now. Everyday, I notice that the slug I customized is replaced by some like this https://wordpress.com/post/musiquepourtoutlemonde.wordpress.com/307. Then I can’t customized it on bit.ly. Can you help me? Best, :)

  Instead of bit.ly, why not give the WordPress shortlink feature a try?

  That should sidestep this completely!

  2 problems: I still have problems with customizing my slug. Everyday I notice that it is replaced by a number. More than that: wordpress shortlink doesn´t allow to monitor the referrers. Could you help me with that?

  When you talk about customizing the slug, how exactly are you customizing it? Also,

  Numbers At The End Of Slugs

  Sometimes, you may find a slug has a number at the end of it that you didn’t put there.
  This happens when WordPress detects the same slug being used more than once.

  If you are trying to use the same custom slug name.
  Not sure what you mean by monitoring the referrer. In the stats page
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ it says

  Referrers
  The referrers section lists other blogs, web sites, and search engines that link to your blog. A view is associated with a referrer a visitor lands on a URL on your site after clicking a link on the referrer’s site.

  So if someone uses the shortlink to your content, you still get the view. Bit.ly or shortlink, the end result as for stats is the same!

  no, it’s not like that, unfortunately. A coleague like you told me some weeks ago that the theme Revelar was experience some problems. Well, it continues. I customize the slug simply putting the name of the title of my post. I works (most of the time) but everyday I notice it returns to something like this: https://wordpress.com/post/musiquepourtoutlemonde.wordpress.com/307

  Hi @vanfdesagmailcom, what you’ve pasted here is actually the address for the edit screen.

  I just did a test in Revlar and was able to edit the slug as I’d like. Be sure you’re copying the link from the right place. It looks like this:
  https://cloudup.com/cl_5HVc0ccM

  You should be able to use that on Bit.ly if you’d like, since we don’t currently track referrers for individual posts.

  By the way, your username sounds like an email address, so you might want to change that for privacy. You can do that here.
