Problems with spacing between poetry verses
-
I cannot seem to separate my poetry verses with a blank line between each and I am having to display them as all one paragraph which is incorrect. I never used to have this problem on WordPress. I have looked in the help forum and tried the shift and enter thing which made no difference at all. I have tried changing to preformatting still no joy. I use copy and paste from my computer folder to insert the poem, could this be what is causing the problem? I also have the poems central rather than over to the left. It is a shame that my poetry cannot be properly displayed anymore and I cannot seem to find a way of rectifying it. Surely I would not have to type out the whole poem manually each time and would it make any difference if I did anyway? When I try copy and paste from word I get the spacing but the font goes really tiny and in any case the spacing again dissapears as soon as I update.

Copypasting from Word into the Visual editor is a guaranteed way to mess your blog up. You can safely copypaste into the HTML editor, so that only the content is copied, then format the text using the tools of the editor or using coding.

Thanks panaghiotisadam I have always avoided HTML mode as I do not understand most of it, however I used it to paste in the text and add the image I wanted then updated and then switched to visual to centralise the verses and make the heading bold. I always used to get away with using visual before but maybe it is harder now that I have been on Windows 7 for a while as I was on Vista before. While we’re about it do you happen to know if there is any way of altering the font size? Thanks also to timethief.

What do you mean by “altering the font size”? Changing the default of the theme or correcting the tiny size you originally complained about? Changing the whole content of a post or parts of it? Please link to or point to a specific post and tell us what you’d like to change.

If for example I wanted the heading to be a larger size font than the verses. My verses look great now with your help by the way. Thanks. How do you know all this is it just through playing around with it?

“If for example I wanted the heading to be a larger size font than the verses.”
See this post of mine:

For a heading you’d write:
<p style="font-size:120%;">TEXT HERE</p>
Change the percentage to adjust the size.
