Problems with the home page

This is my second request for help. I have tried making the welcome page the home page BUT the home tab remains and either is a duplicate of the welcome page or remains a page that tells me I am looking for something that isn’t there. I understand a page needs to exist to capture new entry’s/comments and thru the general>reading>static page I tried to create a new page to catch those new entries and make the “welcome” be the home page. The Home tab does not, however, go away…please help with this matter! I have even written the programmer of the theme in the hopes someone will help me with this matter. In one article of yours I am told to go in and alter the theme…well, I can’t do that either as it is locked. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer me. Elizabeth Townsley

Each theme is unique. Some older themes have a set menu system where the home page tab doesn’t change. In those cases, you should use a custom menu to adjust the navigation: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
