Problems with the newsworthy theme?
-
Hi all,
I’ve noticed on the NewsWorthy theme that many of my headings are clipped when viewed in Chrome, but not in IE. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?
Here’s a sample of what I’m referring to, it hasn’t always been this way, maybe only the last few months, and again only from Chrome ( I believe)
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks for including a screenshot! I don’t see the widget titles getting cut off in Chrome on my Mac. I will try it in Windows Chrome to see if it’s isolated to that browser for some odd reason… more soon.

All is well for me when I test http://foxdeploy.com/ with Win7 Chrome 32. Here’s what I see: https://cloudup.com/cCJ4IkgEPaX
Hm, let’s see, can you rule out a browser add-on or a user CSS file causing the trouble, or can you tell me how to reproduce it from my side?
Also, I really can’t help but tell you that the logo in your header image is ADORABLE and I love it!

Thanks for the kudos, a friend of mine is an illustrator and created it for me.
The clipping seems to be intermittent, which is even stranger.

Intermittent bugs are tricky to catch. :)
I tried viewing http://foxdeploy.com/ a couple more times in Chrome, but still couldn’t see the problem pop up. I used Chrome 32.0.1700.107 on Mac in most of my tests, but I checked a couple of times using Windows as well. I also haven’t seen any other users report the issue as of yet. If there’s any chance you can catch the problem in action and find any clues in the CSS or console, it could help give the hunt a bit more direction. Here’s a screenshot of what the web inspector looks like for me in Chrome. You can open the same panel by right-clicking the widget titles and selecting the “Inspect Element” option.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.
It still looks like that from my end, with the clipped text. http://imgur.com/eZmF7KK
I don’t have the premium CSS editing plan, so I think we can rule out any tinkering from my part.
Is there anything specifically I could point to or capture to help out?

I wasn’t quite sure what to look for at first! And that’s why I suggested looking in the web inspector—I thought maybe I could find a clue by looking in the CSS panel there to see if I could spot something that might help pinpoint the problem (but that was a long shot).
Turns out a Google search was a bit better in turning up a relevant clue. I found the following bug report which indicates it’s a problem with Oswald, which is a font used by the Newsworthy theme and served from Google:
https://code.google.com/p/googlefontdirectory/issues/detail?id=152Does the Oswald font look cut off to you at this link?
https://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/OswaldDo you have Oswald installed locally on your computer?

Hello Designsimply,
I’ve problems in my blog title. Generally post title comes first then blog title. I’m using newsworthy free theme and i think that there is a problem in the theme because i get blog title first then post title. Can you please let me know how to solve this problem.
Let me know if you need further information.
Thanks

Hi @beyonddesignuk, I can certainly take a look!
I checked http://beyonddesignuk.wordpress.com/ because that is the blog linked to your username. I see that you have unchecked the “Display Header Text” option in the Appearance > Customize > Site Title section in your blog dashboard, so the blog title (or site title) isn’t showing at all. I see a small red header image instead that says “beyond.” If that isn’t how you wanted to set up the site title, please start a new help request at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes/#postform and let me know a little more about what you’d like the header to look like compared to what you have now.
