Problems with toolbar when editing posts via WP Admin dashboard

    Clicking on icons for alignments, bold/italics/special-character and links has no effect. Similarly with trying to edit images.

    Hi there,

    This looks like a browser issue. Can you please try the following things:

    – Clear your browser’s cache
    – Force refresh the page
    – Log-out from your WordPress.com account and log-in again.

    OK, thanks for the advice — especially on the ‘browser-issues’ page — though when I went through your steps using the Edge browser unfortunately nothing had changed. (I don’t use other browsers.)

    Interestingly, if I bypass WP-admin and edit directly from the blog page all the options there (link, justify etc) seem to work, so it’s only on the admin Edit Post visual page that I have problems.

    I can manage some of the editing from the admin Edit Post text option, but it’s more awkward with editing image size and page justifying than from the visual option.

    So, the upshot is that I can sort of manage by trying different routes in but it’s not as convenient as editing using the visual option via admin.

    I have had similar problems using IE11 for a week or so. There are workarounds as you have found. The “My Sites” dashboard works and Text mode in WP Admin works but there are a few buttons in the WP Admin Visual toolbar that remain unresponsive for me.

    Hi calmgrove,

    I tested it on Windows 10 with the latest version of Edge (41.16299.15) and didn’t encounter any issues with the the formatting toolbar.

    Can you please check that you’re using the latest version of Edge and also test if it works better from within the new editor (https://wordpress.com/post/).

    Similar issue

    I’m on Windows 10 / Chrome and cannot get formatting (e.g. ordered or unordered lists) to display correctly in my WP Blog

    It displays perfectly in the post itself but no formatting displays when I save draft & preview or when I publish. This is text I typed in directly, no copying/pasting.

    Have tried on a few different posts, deleting originals and starting again, no success
