Problems with (top) banner background image using Swell theme
-
Hi, my (top) banner background image disappeared yesterday. It had been ok for about a year and suddenly it went. I have just had a Live chat with a support guy who managed to reinstate it but it now doesn’t stretch/span the whole screen like it did before. There are margins left and right that show the grey background colour.
Can anyone help me make it span the whole screen again? Its urgent as I was going to do some new business today and a website that doesn’t look so good – isn’t good news!
Btw – it still works fine on an mobile and tablet. Its just on a desktop I have problems.
Thanks

I’m not seeing any left and right grey margins. I am seeing the image repeated on the left and right.
Did you get this taken care of? I checked on my iPhone, tablet and also on my computer.

Hi there,
Apparently this (along with other stuff) were bugs to do with a swell theme update – as far as I can tell. They’re meant to be all fixed now but haven’t managed to check if it’s ok on my desktop this evening yet (it’s always looked fine on my iPhone anyway so can’t tell if it’s working or not).
Originally it disappeared, then a support person who didn’t know about the theme bug advised me to add a space into one of the theme banner fields. Think it was the background one.. This made the image reappear but with margins left and right.
I was hoping that the image now spanned across the screen as before. It has the correct dimensions and fitted before the bug. But maybe by adding that space into the background image field it’s made the image repeat – from what you say??
If you can help. I’m currently meant to be sending out my website link to companies to promote myself and don’t dare in case it’s messed up again!
Thanks

Try adding this to your custom CSS, at the very bottom and then test.
.video-container video { height: auto !important; }Make sure and look at things on your phone as well.

Hi again,
I have added that code and the home image appears fine on all devices (doesn’t repeat that is). However it rectified itself before I added your code as, first of all, I tried removing that space the support guy told me to put in. See as below.
Under Theme/Banner/Banner Background Video..
I’d put a space using my space bar and when I looked just now it had become: http://%20Once I removed that, the image spanned right across again as it was previous to the bug.
Should I leave your code in anyway?

Try temporarily remove the code I gave and see if it makes a difference. If it does not, I would remove it to keep your CSS cleaner.
