Problems Writing Posts
-
Two problems I’m consistently having ever since WordPress has made even more unnecessary changes.
First, no matter where I put my cursor to then add a link, it’s automatically inserted at the beginning of the text.
Second, I cannot select previously used tags which may apply to more than one post.
Can I please have the OLD way of doing things back? I don’t like this new way at all. It’s more of a headache to post than ever and for the first time I’m ready to shut down all of my blogs.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and for viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/
On the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
To create posts in the classic editor for you that link ishttp://pinktrianglecafe.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
On the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts one can hover over any post title and click the Edit link. and proceed with editing. -

That sounds like a browser related issue. In order to help you Staff need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through the list that follows and report your details back here.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/

If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:

Thanks for your response timethief. It is much appreciated.
Now that you point out everything regarding the link problem possibly being browser related, I think you may be right. I’ll see if I have the same issue at home (the issue is currently with my new computer at work). If it happens only at work, then I may just resort to posting at home.
As for the editor, I wasn’t aware that the classic editor was still around. A link to WP Admin used to be right at the top, but now it’s gone. Or relocated to a spot I haven’t discovered. I’ve begun reading the info on the site you provided for utilizing the editor I prefer.
Thanks again!!

That link was removed by Staff om March 18th, 2015 and they refuse to reinstate it. It’s in their best interest to have us all use the new editor and report the issues we have with it in support threads. That way those issues and the negative feedback on their baby don’t appear in their announcements comments, which always make it sound like we all love the new editor and it has improved our desktop blogging experience when that’s not the case. Clearly desktop blogging has become more difficult, more time consuming, and less pleasurable but as the negative feedback is here and the approved comments on the announcements https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/11/16/new-high-speed-editor/ are warm and fuzzy it’s difficult for users to find the classic editor and use it.

About 25% of the web is running wordpress software now. It’s actually a matter of survival for wordpress that this platform becomes usable to all no matter which device they use. Read this so you get what I mean https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/dashboard-update/ and then read https://poststatus.com/interviews-matt-mullenweg/

What percentage of bloggers blog from their phone? I feel like I’m in the minority on that one. I don’t even read blogs on my phone. I have a phone with a screen large enough to read stuff, but I don’t. I still prefer my computer.

More people are using cell phones than those who have landlines and the trend is towards microblogs and mobile blogging. These days a post can amount to embedding a selfie and zero textual content.
-
Guess I need to go somewhere else or give up blogging altogether.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate your time.

The latest data shows that we are now well past the tipping point mentioned at the top of this post. Mobile digital media time in the US is now significantly higher at 51% compared to desktop (42%).

@bluejeanfemme
Eventually the new editor will be upgraded again and I expect it will include all the features we find in the classic editor today over time.
