Probs with Different browsers

I created my site/blog on Firefox originally. If I open the site however in Opera or IE, there is an entire screen’s worth of empty space there so you have to scroll down to begin. This isn’t happening in the edit view. Can anybody advise why this is happening & how to fix it?

ok, thank you … will have to post again anyway as this is the first time anyone’s mentioned privacy as a problem (I’ve usually gotten responses to queries without it being a problem.) I’ve set to private as I’m using it as a site rather than a blog & want to finish it properly before publishing. Nearly done though so should I ask again when I’m ready to publish? Still new to WP & from my recollection, if I unset the privacy I’ll be in for more work/complications going back to privacy again. Thank you for replying : )

In this case I wanted to check your site in different browsers to see if I see the same thing as you (and eliminate whether the problem is local to your machine, or a problem with the site itself), which is not possible if it’s set to private. But staff won’t have that restriction, as @hallluke pointed out. I have tagged this thread for them, so just wait for their response.In the meantime you can try clearing your browser cache in Opera and IE, and also make sure you’re using the latest version of those browsers and see if that makes any difference. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

I’m not entirely sure what is going on here, you have this header image that’s returning a 403 error. It may be that, while Firefox pretends like it doesn’t see anything, the other browsers try and fail to load it which is causing the problem.
Check what you have set up in the header image settings – try setting another image from your media library and let me know if this helps.

Was just about to reply to hallluke to say thank you, I applied the advice offered after inviting you to view (replace image in header) & it has worked hence your finding it fixed shawnajroberts. Thanks to everyone who replied, awesome : )

Great news, it looks back to normal now. Sorry it took me a little longer to reply – the first time you invited me it was as an author which would have given me permission to make posts on your site, which I imagined wasn’t really what you wanted!

Yes, I’m just a visitor which basically means I can snoop around and look at your site before you make it public – but I can’t access the site dashboard and actually make any changes (so no evil laughter from me!)
