Product Category Descriptions stopped showing

Hello. New to this. Not sure if this should be a WooCommerce question but throwing it out there. I am running WP on WPEngine with WooCommerce. For my “shop”, under Woo, I have Product Categories. Each category has a Description that worked great. You click on a category and you could see the category description. I created a new subcategory and all of a sudden, my product category descriptions will no longer show. Every category description defaults to the shop description. Did a bunch of troubleshooting, which I won’t get into now, ended up restoring a backup. Still did not fix it! Absolutely no changes between last good backup and creating new sub category. I added a new subcategory in Oct, no issues. But this time, something broke. Can confirm 100% they were showing prior to creating sub category, I even took a screenshot. Thanks.

No, as stated above, the only thing I did is create a new Product Sub Category. The working theory is that When I added the subfolder, WordPress thought I was overriding WooCommerce templates. It switched to my theme’s archive template, which doesn’t include the code to display category descriptions. That’s why they disappeared. I was able to get it working (not exactly as before) by configuring it to print it again (template update + code snippet), then flushed cache so the changes took effect. Considering this closed.
