product grid per category

    I am trying to create a list of categories as a sidebar or a list on the left, and i want the products per category to display on the right. I am not selling these products. I have tried woocommerce, but since im new to building a wp site, im not sure how to achieve this… i have used a categories list widget, but it redirects me to another page, i would like related products to display on the right side. how can achieve this? Themes, plug in, none? Please help
