Products, Categories & Simplifying Sales Reports

    Hello,

Firstly a small bit of background and context.

The website in question is a shop that sells clothing and accessories related to sports and clubs. Some of the products I’m selling are the same across the board, for example one may be a ‘Plain White T-shirt. Whereas some of the products are customised with things such as badges, logos, specific embroidery.

I would like to know how to allow one product to sit across multiple categories, while still reporting back as to which category it was originally purchased from.

For example if Club A and Club B both require ‘Plain White T-shirt’, and a parent or player from Club A comes onto my website and purchases 1 x ‘Plain White T-shirt’ from within Club As category, I would like to know that the purchase correlates to being purchased from Club A’s category on the website.

While the product ‘Plain White T-shirt’ is the same in both Club A and Club Bs categories, and in the packaging it’s the same T-shirt, it would still be very useful to be aware of which club purchased however many T-shirts.

Another issue I have come across is that on the front end of the website it will display every category ‘Plain White T-shirt’ is also in at the bottom of the sales page. Can I restrict this? Remove it? Hiding it isn’t ideal but I’m sure that could also be done? The problem with hiding this is that we use this aspect on some products without issue.

I feel I’ve explained this well enough for some kind person to assist, however if there are any parts you’re unsure about then feel free to ask for clarification.

Any and all help is appreciated.

    Hi there,

I see that you stared this forum post a few weeks ago, and I wanted to check in to see if you are still having trouble here.

If so, I’d like to collect a bit more information from you so that I can better troubleshoot.

First, can you walk me through how you are selling on your website? I don’t see any of the content that you’ve mentioned on maddocksryan.wordpress.com. Are you referencing another site?

Are you planning on having different sections of your website for the different clubs that you plan on having visit the site? Or are you simply looking for a way for a person to indicate which club they are in upon making a purchase on your site?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi koulovat,

    Thanks for the reply.

The website in question wasn’t maddocksryan.wordpress.com. I don’t know why the forum decided to put that at the end of the post for me! Tssk tssk.

Some of the issues I’ve outlined in the original post have been resolved, the others are being worked on and will likely be resolved through other means.

I’ve no way of deleting this post but I’ll go ahead and mark it as solved.

Thank you for your response, apologies for not closing this sooner.
