Profanity in Possibly Related Posts
-
On my post: http://deannaizme.wordpress.com/2008/08/15/the-obama-nation/ from today, the possibly related posts (automatically generated) all have headlines with profane words in them. I’m not a prude, but it’s really not what I want on my blog — it weakens what I’m trying to say. I like the possibly related posts feature, but is there a way to remove these headlines and replace with something a little less blue?
Thanks.

Can you copy the URLs and send them in a support request?

When you use an automated feature that links your posts to those of strangers on the web, you are going to run into issues like these on an ongoing basis. Equal rights campaigners’ blogs have linked to white supremacists, my own reports of the Scientology protests got linked to pro-Scientology blogs (until I took that feature off), etc. It is never going to stop.

If Possibly Related Features is going to be removing posts with swear words in them from the loop, will they also exclude Dooce, whose header includes the word “crap?”

That’s a good point, raincoaster. It’s one I hadn’t thought of. I hadn’t come across this issue before now and I was surprised.

Some people posted about it when the feature was new. They were not pleased, and there was no way to filter the Possibly Related Posts except (then as now) to exclude private blogs and those set as Mature.

Please, please, allow us to have the “possibly related posts” come from OUR blogs, only?
That would be awesome. -

I like the idea of it. In an ideal world I would be able to pick say three, from an suggestion list generated, my own blog included. That would be cool!
