Profile changes do not happen

I have tried to change how my name is displayed. I can only display my username, no matter what. I upload my avatar, but it does not show up. No changes are ever saved.

Hello there,
Although your username cannot be changed you can use a “nickname” on your blog. You set this up here -> Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile
Look down the righthand column. Enter a nickname and click “Update Options”.There is a time delay before avatars appear and I can see yours now. More information wordpress.com avatars

I tried to change my website link on my profile. When people click on my name, I want it to link just to my blog, but it still goes to my old link. When I go back to edit my profile, it shows that it has changed, but obviously it hasn’t. Any advice?

It goes to your WordPress.com blog http://biggercloset.wordspress.com/ ; isn’t that what it’s supposed to do?

Well, I just checked one of the comments that I left on someone else’s blog, and it still goes to my old link. I’m hoping that WP will catch up, and the new link will work soon.

Oops, sorry about the double posts it was during the dark time when the forum was funky.
It won’t change the link on comments you have previously left on blogs, only the ones from the time you changed it forward.

Ah….that explains a lot. I really wish it would take effect on all comments, though. It really seems stupid otherwise. But thanks, this makes a lot more sense! Sorry for being such an ignorant bother! :)

You’re not ignorant, you just did not know, and you are welcome. Searching all blogs to update your URL would be a pretty daunting task if you think about it since the system does not know what blogs you left comments on, so they would have to search all 1.5 million, and search every post on all of them.
