Profile deleted / username restoration

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi all. On trying to change my WordPress / Gravatar username, I’ve encountered two (possibly related) issues:

    1) My profile page (https://en.gravatar.com/lib404) displays the message ‘We’re sorry, that profile has been deleted. You can view your own profile though.’ The link in the message reverts back to the same broken profile with the same message.

    2) I’m unable to change my username to @mtl404; it states the username already exists (I must have previously used it), but it’s not associated with another account as when trying to log in as mtl404, it states that the account has been deleted or renamed.

Is it possible for me to change my username back to @mtl404 if I have previously used it? Is my current broken profile page somehow related to this?

    Many thanks in advance.

  • Hi there,

It looks like you have hidden your Gravatar profile. To un-hide it, go to Gravatar.com and click the Log in with WordPress.com button. Then go to this link:

    https://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit

You should be able to un-hide your profile from there. Let me know if you have any trouble with this, and I can un-hide it for you as well.

mtl404 was your previous username. When you changed from that username to the current one, you opted not to keep the old username. When you do that the old username is permanently disabled and it cannot be reactivated again.

Hi kokkieh, that makes sense; I hadn’t even thought about my profile being hidden. It now works as expected.

I assumed that the username was probably inaccessible, so no worries.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Glad I could help :)
