Profile Pic Not Showing On ‘Edit Profile’

    The title pretty much sums up the problem. There is no preview of my profile pic on the page to edit my profile. It used to show up perfectly. I have even uploaded it again, but it’s still missing.

    Any1 else having this problem?

    We have two profiles here at wordpress.com. Our forum profiles do not have a place to enter an avatar image. The images we upload in the admin area of our blogs here => Dashboard = > Users => Your Profile appear in your forum posts here first and, some time later they also appear when you leave comments on blogs as well as appearing on the wordpress.com tag pages.

    With my firefox 2.0.1 browser I can clearly see a black and white smiling face on your post above so I’m not clear what the problem is.
    (1) Specifically, where do you think your avatar image is missing from?
    (2) And have you cleared your browser cache and forced a re-load? http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/06/force-refresh/

    Must be since there’s already a thread on it. :)

    The avatars are cached. Sometimes they misfire. Try clearing your browser cache. I can see your fine here in the forums. A pen drawing of a funny, smiling face.

    This is not related to the profile under Support or my icon showing up in various places around WP. Those are fine.

    I am specifically talking about when I got to My Account-Edit Profile on the blue bar at the top. My chosen picture used to show up there on my Edit Profile page, but not anymore.

    I am a new user and trying to upload picture on ‘Edit Profile’ and I can only see black space – picture does not get uploaded

    you probably have transparency within your avatar. To get rid of this, you will have give your image a white background using image editing software such as photoshop or gimp.

    Some other avatar tips:

    (1) Be sure your image one of these file types – jpg, jpeg, png, gif (Note that bmp’s cannot be uploaded due to size).
    (2) Do not use anything in the file name but letters and numbers. Use no spaces, no dashes, no underscores, or any type of special character or punctuation, except for the dot between the file name and the extension. Also make sure that the file name has an extension.
    (3) Choose an image that does not have any transparency in it.
    (4) Pre-sized the image to be 128 pixels x 128 pixels square prior to trying to upload it.
