Project won’t show

    One of my projects, Maui Food Bank, will not open whenever I click on it to edit it. I keep getting the message ‘An unexpected error occurred’. I have tried to attempt recovery, but nothing will work. I don’t want to have to create the page again.

    Site: (email visible only to moderators and staff).
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Is this for the portfolio project https://elisecutoneportfolio.wordpress.com/portfolio/maui-food-bank/?

    If so I think you might be seeing this bug in the block editor.

    Can you try these steps to try and fix the problem?

    1. Go to your Projects page (Portfolio -> All Projects)
    2. In the upper right, select “screen options” and choose “Classic view”
    3. Your Projects page view should now look like this: screenshot https://d.pr/i/YSrcA2
    4. Hover over the published “Maui Food Bank” project (not the draft) and click the “Classic Editor” link
    5. On the next page you need to choose “Continue to Classic Editor”
    6. Delete and retype “Maui Food Bank” as your project title and click “Update”

    Then, once the project has been updated, go back to your Projects screen and under “screen options” click the “Use WordPress.com view” button to go back to your normal dashboard view.

    Then refresh the project page on the front end and try to edit it again through your normal dashboard. It should fix that error message.

    I tried all of those steps, but it still didn’t work and is giving me the same error message.

    I am now getting the error message when I try to add a new project as well.

    Hi there!

    Sorry to hear that it didn’t work. We’re looking into your site to dig into it further. In the meantime, I tested and I didn’t see any errors when trying to create a new project. See this screenshot: https://d.pr/i/fHfsul

    Do you see that error message when creating a new portfolio project on a different browser?

    While the Maui Food Bank project’s error is caused by this bug and not your browser, it’s possible the new project screen not showing up may be browser-specific as it does open up just fine on my end.

    The project wasn’t working on Safari, so I used Chrome and it worked. But the outgoing links on the Maui Food Bank project on Safari won’t work when I am testing the website. I need the link to work on any browser someone may be viewing it from.

    Nevermind, I can’t edit the project on Chrome or Safari. I am still getting the same error message. How can this be fixed? I need to edit this project as soon as possible.

    Hm, this is odd, I’m not seeing what could be causing it, but I do believe it’s related to https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/34602

    For now, I recommend either re-creating the page, or using the classic editor to edit the existing page: https://wordpress.com/support/classic-editor-guide/
