Prompted to crop header image even though image smaller than specified

  I have tried uploading an image that is slightly smaller than specified. Once uploaded, I am prompted to crop it. Why? The image is smaller than specified, so there should be no need to crop?

  Try “cropping” it and see what happens. If I recall correctly you can just put it in and pretend to crop it and the system is fine with that. They just want that button clicked.

  According to the specifications on WordPress it needs to be 750 x 150 or less. I have cropped it (with irfanview) to 200 x 140 pixels. When I upload it, I still am prompted to crop it with the cropping device/frame before it is uploaded to my page. If I click the button (as you suggest), it then crops the image, based on what part is in the frame. How can this be? Why is there a need to crop it if it is obviously less than 750 x 150?

  There isn’t necessarily a need to crop it. You can simply let the frame contain the entire image, which “crops” the picture to its entire content.

  On the other hand, someone might have a picture that is small enough, but that they only want to use a portion of (say, for instance, they may not want their website design blemished by the timestamp that can be inserted by some digital cameras). In these cases, it may be convenient to crop the image during the upload process.

  you can move the cropping frame around, so that it will not actually crop your image, I think

  I’m having the same problem… And I’m defenetly not looking at the specs for a diffrent theme! I’ve checked about a thousand times. And its not just in this theme I’m having the problem… You can have the link to my blogg: http://drammenpopkult.wordpress.com

  Why not simply upload the image a bit larger than it needs to be? Most graphics programs will easily make that change.
