proofread function not working

  When I click on Proofread, the post freezes. I then have to click
  Preview and then edit. This takes my post to the new format but
  the proofread function doesn’t work there, either. So, I have to copy the post, paste it into a Word document and use the spell check function to correct any misspellings and then paste it back into the new post before publishing. Anyone else having this problem? What to do?
